I thought the booking was mostly spot-on. My only issue was with the guy from CD Projekt Red. He seemed completely disinterested and aloof. This is probably because he had spent a whole day demoing Witcher 3 etc, but then he probably shouldn't have agreed to be on a panel straight afterwards. It just seemed to be a very strange attitude to adopt.
Gutted. I thought we really troubled them with our pace up front. Rooney was utterly terrible, but, like @thomasnash mentioned: I'd rather we lose playing like this than the stodgy performances we were giving in South Africa.
@jertje: I think the general thrust about your argument with respect to the strength of the league is true but the values of players sold from the dutch league can only go up - see Ericksen (if he keeps up his performance Spurs will have to sell), Mertens had a great season at Napoli, Strootman is desperately wanted at Man Utd (and the fee will be upwards of £25 milllion - if sold). All of this just confirms what you said: these youngsters are sold too early for Eredvisie teams to command the maximum fee possible.
Spain desperately need to play with Javi Martinez alongside Busquets. Alexis is a wonderfully clever striker that can.interchangeably, use his pace and run in behind, and drop into midfield where necessary to play good balls into space for their attacking midfielders to run onto. Alonso and Busquets are not mobile enough to handle him. I really think that Koke must also start to compliment Costa - for reasons I outlined in a previous post in this thread: directness, pace, energy.
@jertje: I think you underestimate the Eredvisie. The relative lack of money allows the top clubs to give youngsters and when you look at the number of young talented players it has produced (Blind, Clasie, Ericksen - even though he's not Dutch, Maher etc) you can see that it is a league on the rise - if it can keep its good players.
