That's not the final boss. Definitely sounds like something glitched, though!

I've owned Front Mission 4 for probably a decade now and never actually finished it: Looking at my old save file it seems like I made it to around mission 14 or so before I got completely caught up in the spiral of buying skill sets for characters and doing simulations for cash and EP.

I started replaying it not long ago, but got really sick which has kinda sidetracked it. I figure this time I'll do my best to make it to the end, because even as a game I never beat it's always been a favorite. It looks pretty great for a PS2 game and any time I can blast someone with a shotgun the size of a tank, I'm pretty happy.

Also, as far as advantages the shotgun might have, the only one I can think of is that it's pretty much guaranteed to do a chunk of damage to every body part. I've had situations where a Machine Gun focused weirdly heavily on a single arm and ended up letting a guy survive, where a shotgun blast would be all but guaranteed to chisel off that last bit of health on the body. Also, shotguns are cool.

Not as cool as setting Latona up with two giant clubs and having everyone linked up so that she spends a whole round tearing Wagner limb from limb, though. That's fantastic.

It was mostly my own fault, but the final boss battle in Super Robot Wars Original Generations on the GBA was a long drawn-out mess of me blasting the boss with almost every character to burn out the energy shields, using the most powerful characters to deal damage that was almost totally healed by the bosses' innate regeneration... it was an absolute mess of a battle and took upwards of 50 turns to complete, if I remember correctly.

I went back last year and beat that game and, with a better understanding of how to play and a newfound appreciation for energy draining weapons, that boss was a piece of cake.

Damn that Yiazmat fight is insane, I'm planning to replay Final Fantasy XII in the summer and don't think I'll be doing that fight. Geez.

I don't actually think it was a boss fight really but in Dragon's Dogma it took me ages (over an hour) to fight a golem. That's the longest fight I can think of & it was connected to a quest iirc so I couldn't leave it. I can't really remember why it took so long other than me being a sorcerer really wasn't a good match up and my pawns weren't being particularly helpful either even though one of them apparently knew what to do. The battle did look cool though and I guess going through a day/night cycle in it added a nice bit of drama. I think that was the first golem I fought, I came across others later in the game that weren't as much of an issue.

For the record, Golems are almost totally immune to magic. The best thing to do as a sorcerer, if you run into one, is actually unequip your weapon and climb the thing to punch the weak points.

@flstyle: Man, Tremor. Didn't see that one coming, though I probably should have. Also Tanya looking notably lighter-skinned than her MK Armageddon incarnation.

Well there goes the only reason I still gave a shit about Konami. That's super unfortunate, but I doubt Kojima will have a hard time finding work.

Also; if this somehow negatively affects Silent Hills I will be seriously pissed off :[

Yeah pretty much just this. Kojima/Guillermo del Toro working on a Silent Hill game was basically a weird magical combination of a lot of things I loved and if it gets screwed up now I'm just going to feel hollow and dead inside.

I hope there's a lot of stuff in that Kombat pack to make it worth 30 goddamn dollars! That said Jason is pretty rad.

New Trailer:

I'll be honest, I wasn't sold on Mortal Kombat X initially, but the story trailers have me interested.

I took two things away from that trailer: That they gave Johnny Cage the best fatality from MK9, and that the second person Johnny's wailing on in that trailer looks like a weird demonic version of Jax.

I played SH3 on both the PS2 and the PC, and they were both fine. The PC version of Silent Hill 3 is fantastic looking and very well optimized. SH2 I've only played on the PC, and it was also pretty much fine there; had a weird issue where it wouldn't run correctly at first but a few google searches/option changes later it ran just fine, and this was on an absolutely terrible old computer.

Most people will go with 2. Personally, I prefer 3, and think the PC version of SH3 is absolutely fantastic; the one thing I'd definitely say is to avoid the HD Collection, as it has a number of problems that make the games worse overall.
