I agree with bibamatt, if you don't care about integrating XBL chat into the headset, whatever will work. Obviously depending on your theater setup, the connection to the system will be the only other issue you need to tackle. Yea, deleting the system cache should fix it. According to the Xbox Ambassador's handbook, sometimes one of the title updates gets corrupted and this is the only way to force it to download (and keep) a new patch.
