  • As many have said already, if you had told me my #1 game of 2012 was going to be a point-and-click adventure game, I would've laughed in your face. I have no real history with this genre. No sense of nostalgia. But The Walking Dead blew me away. Plus, it was kind of cool to play a game that takes place (at least the first half) where I live (Macon, GA).

  • Did I like the ending? Eh...not really. But I didn't hate it. What irritated me was that a lot of people lost sight of what is/was the best franchise of this generation. Despite whether you loved or hated the ending, Mass Effect 3 was one hell of a game.

  • Hey, I'm as shocked as you are. But I put some serious time into Theatrhythm. It's fun. It's challenging. It's a massive dose of nostalgia. And the StreetPass functionality is great.

  • Some people complained about the "5 hour tutorial." Those people are insane. How Ubisoft kept the wraps on Haytham Kenway has only been topped in recent memory by how they also kept the wraps on the sci-fi-ness of the first AC. The opening of the game had me confused and intrigued. And that twist was amazing. The twist only got better the longer I played the game. Yes, the chase scenes were quite annoying but that doesn't come close to outweighing all the great stuff about this game.

  • While mostly more of the same, I still loved Borderlands 2. It was non-stop dumb fun. It probably helped that 95% of the time I was playing co-op.

  • I mostly enjoyed what they did with the new SSX. I think making it more challenging than fun was a bad decision, but there was still a lot of fun to be had in this game even with the increased difficulty. It's a shame the "real" multiplayer only got patched in later. I just hope they get another shot at it in a couple years.

  • Blitz came out right before I left for PAX Prime 2012, so I kinda missed that initial rush of excitement and score challenges. But for a few weeks following, it's about all I played. The concept is both ingenius and obvious. It successfully breathed new life into my rather large Rock Band library.

  • I admit it. I made a mistake. I voted with my money for Need for Speed Most Wanted in the racing game wars of late October. Honestly, how could I not? I loved Hot Pursuit and Burnout. And I'd never even owned a Forza game before. Well, my bad. Forza Horizon is awesome.

  • I still watch wrestling. Yeah, I know it sucks most of the time. But you know what sucks worse? Wrestling video games. It's been a long time since I bought one new, but the idea of WWE '13's Attitude Era mode got me to bite. And it's pretty great. Honestly, it could be it's own game if they wanted. I still think the Yuke's style is outdate and someone else needs a chance with the license at this point, but good on them for the fan service.

  • You may be aware that I had some major jaw surgery followed by an accident that ended up with me having my jaw wired shut for two months early in 2012. With nothing better to do, I bought a Vita. And for about two months, I played Hot Shots every single day. I've always been a fan of the franchise, and they finally got the online stuff right with this one. The daily tournaments were a great way to keep me playing. At one point, I was in the top 50 in the world. #humblebrag
