Downloadable games better than retail games lately?

Just wondering if other people feel like the downloadable games have been better than the retail games lately? Lara Craft and the Guardian of Light, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Shank, Risk: Factions, Joe Danger and Limbo are just afew of the really good downloadable games. I've liked them all, demo or full game.

What do you guys thinks?

Back to FF XIII

I just took about a month off from Final Fantasy XIII. I actually stopped in Chapter 10 before teh game opens up. I got involved in the convention I volunteer with, AnimeNEXT (I don't mind throwing it out there, www.animenext.org and www.manganext.org), and then I had a family reunion and vacation down in Florida away from home in New York.

Well now I am back and decided to jump back into Final Fantasy. Without me originally releazing it, but maybe I chose a good place to take a break and starup again. Chapter 10 of the game is where I finally was able to chose my own party; Lightning, Hope and Fang, and also was enabled to make my own decision in leveling up the characters and my use of the Chrystarium. I had to re-orient myself to the quick combat system of teh game but it came back to me really quickly. But the best part was jumping in once again with the ability to adjust my party and their abilities and levels.

SPOILER

I also jumped back into the game at one the earlier (if twenty hours in is early) more difficult battles, specifically the battle against Cid Raines. This battle is especially difficult but it served as a good way to emphasize the party and character adjustments I must make now in the game. I eneded up having to create new paradigms and adjust my levelling up of the characters abilties in the Chrystarium. Fighting Cid at the beginning of my jumping back into the game turned out to be for the best.

So overall, I am glad I took a break from the game and jumped back in when I did. It has actually helped me enjoy the game even more.

In the office and thinking TG-16

I am in my office and am spending too much time thinking about TG-16 and old games. I enjoyed playing Splatterhouse and Ordyne yesterday. I guess I still like olfd games, eh? I know they say that Splatterhouse on the TG-16 is not teh best port of the original arcade game but I still enjoyed it. Ordyne was a very good SHMUP, but may be a little bit more difficult.

New Old games

Got home today to two old games I purchased on eBay; Splatterhouse for the TurboGrafx-16 and Ordyne for the same console. I am building up a little TurboGrafx-16 collection of Splatterhouse, Ordyne, Bonk's Adventure, Bonk's Revenge and of course Keith Courage.  i think I am really going to try to stop or slow down on some of these TG-16 purchases unless I see Air Zonk come up for cheap or Castlevania, but I doubt that will happen.

Another Day, Another Blog

July 5th and it is another day and another blog. I am in NJ and not at home, so I can not see and play my new TurboGrafx games yet, Ordyne and Splatterhouse.

Another day another eBay auction

Another day another eBay auction . Today was another good day for an eBay auction for me. I have really been watching things closely for some older games. Video games on TurboGrafx and Philips CD-i and 3DO. Well a bunch of TurboGrafx-16 games have come through for me recently. I have been bidding on the original Splatterhouse (it sounds like it continues to be much better than the upcoming new version), Ordyne, the original Bomberman, Air Zonk and Bonk 3.

Unfortunately I have lost out on Splatterhouse recently and Bomberman. I just won Ordyne, which i think is a great game and a good collector's item too. And right now I am bidding on another full copy of Splatterhouse. So a good time for TurboGrafx-16 games for me on eBay.

E3 Contested

I am not sure why, but I have to say that I thought that E3 Contested was one of the hardest quests i have done so far on Giant Bomb. And I really wanted to complete it. I kept looking at the number of people getting the quest growing and I started to get concerned, but this afternoon when taking a break from writing at my job I finished it with The Bomcast of Characters quest. The last quest in that set really threw me off.

Back from vacation

I'm back from vacation and am sitting down in front of the XBox and PS3 again. Put in some time with Netflix and Joe Danger. It is a typical slow Sunday summer evening, maybe it is time to go back to Final Fantasy XIII or Unccharted

Found: Mario Paint

OK, it was another great day at the Flea Market. Went to the Meadowlands/Giant Stadium Flea Market again this week. Got there early before it go too hot and not too late so me and my girlfriend could go another event she wanted to go to, another event Flea Market Craft Fair event in Brooklyn. We decided to go straight to all the old collector garage sale stuff at the Flea Market and to skip the knockoff designer bags, and all the stuff from designers that has fallen off trucks.

At the old stuff garage sale area we found some old games, some in good shape and some in terrible shape. I skipped on buying some old and in very good shape Atari 2600 games. I don't have one of those right now. Maybe some day I will buy one again. I skipped on some touchy scratched up Nintendo 64 carts. They looked like they may not work.

My girlfriend was the one who found the great find this time around, a complete SNES Mario Paint with mouse and moue pad. Unfortunately there was no box or manual but it was all in good and working order. Haggled with the vendor and got him down to $18. Not bad. This will be another good addition to the collection. It will be nice to have this, unlike everyone on YouTube who seem to use emulation to create all the Mario Paint Composer songs on there. Another good find!

Maybe some day I will find the 64DD version of Mario Paint. : )

Conan and John and Stephen and Paul and Bill and Andy and...

In the office after Conan O'Brien last night    at Radio City Music Hall in New York. Had a great time with my girl friend there. It was great to see Conan back in New York. Conan put on a great live show. Conan is very funny, he could go out and do stand up, no problem. It was a great with some great guests, Bill Hayter, Stephen Colbert, John Stewart, Paul Rudd, John Kracijnski, Vampire Weekend. And of course Andy and the band were there, and the new part of the band the Cocettes, Conan's back up singers. A great show. Can't wait to see Conan back on TV.
