You lose almost everything, including CoD points. Things like weapons, attachments, camouflage, pretty reticles, lethal, tactical and equipment items, facepaints, killstreaks, all perks, all pro versions of perks, challenges (not lifetime challenges), kill streaks all disappear
 
You retain:  
Playercard pictures/layers/backgrounds.  
Your emblem (the one that goes on your playercard) 
Clan Tag 
Lifetime challenges 
Lifetime stats
 
So, spend your money on buying layers, or playercard related things before you prestige.

Yes, it's basically the reward system from an MMO. 
 
I also don't recall the Battlefield unlocks being particularly difficult to reach.

Some new blood would likely help if you were getting massacred in the first place. Also, your example involves 75% of your team leaving, which is an extreme example (although the end result likely didn't change much)
 
As for Counterstrike, we're talking about pubs, right? It's something you have to accept - people can join and leave as they please - if someone leaves, pick up the slack until someone else joins. I'd like it if people never left any game ever, but that's not really possible or reasonable.  
 
In any case, I've never really cared too much about people leaving public games, as those are the games that I join, and would leave in a heartbeat if something more important came up.

Yeah, I already said this once, but the server is on Hardcore mode, which is just awful.

Yeah, that's precisely what I meant.  But it's true, people probably wouldn't react the same way to a more egregious act coming from Jeff.  It was just weird to see several really weak arguments supporting rage quitting.  I can understand "If you're not having fun anymore, than quit", but just saying "It's normal for Call of Duty" is stupid. Haven't really been following the thread, but what's wrong with "It's normal for Call of Duty" as an argument? Some games lend themselves to hopping on and off casually. If it was Starcraft, you'd be an idiot for leaving before any decisive disadvantage, but if you hop into an ongoing game like Call of Duty, Counterstrike, Team Fortress 2 etc, it's not as big of a deal - the game carries on, and one person leaving won't affect the other 8 to 12+ too much. Is there something wrong with that line of reasoning?

When he talks about change, he means more like fundamental gameplay mechanics need to be changed because they're starting to feel stale. Things need to change the same way the original Modern Warfare changed shooters, and it needs to happen soon (well, as soon as releasing these types of games is no longer very profitable, which might take a while) Incorporating something like Spec Ops does not contradict this. If anything, it's a mode that added a tonne of value to the game, and feels fresh. 
 
At least, that's how I remember it.

I think the Chicago server is on Hardcore... absolutely can't stand it. In normal mode there is an element of "If I see you first you're dead" - it's super true in hardcore. Doesn't feel fun or challenging  
 
Edit: I think it was the Los Angeles server - but it's fine now and not hardcore

As far as I can tell, you must search manually. The /connect command doesn't seem to work.

I was playing on "Treyarch DOM #5" (I think) and my friend was unable to find it despite turning off all filters. So, I am guessing the problem is that some servers just don't show up on the server list for some people. Not sure why.
