So... I'm starting to have a problem with how hardcore the clan matches and practices are starting to become. This is not what Giantbomb is about, or has ever been about. In any game. This GiantBomb Killzone clan is having lots of clan matches, which is fine. But some of the "leaders" of the clan are acting like it's mandatory, or making comments like they are "disappointed" that the clan matches aren't panning out as well as they would like. Indicating that we should feel bad for not put 110% into it.

I mean, suggesting that the practices are mandatory? Suggesting that the clan matches are mandatory? Saying that the "leaders" of the clan are going to have an "after clan match analysis" of how people played? C'mon...

Now, maybe i missed something and it was already stated that no one will get kicked or anything for missing clan matches, or practices. If that's the case, then ignore this post. I'm only making it because i've seen some very recent posts suggesting a more serious mindset when it comes to this clan. Namely, what i mentioned above.

Bottom line. Giantbomb has always been a laid back, carefree website/forum. It should be the same way in any guild, clan, or whatever you want to call it. Otherwise you shouldn't be using the GiantBomb name. If you want to recruit people on this forum for a hardcore Killzone 2 clan that is going to constantly be doing clan matches, holding mandatory practices, and whatever else hardcore bro's do in a clan. Then that's fine. Just name it "Joe Shmoe Clan" instead. Not GiantBomb Clan. Because a clan like that has nothing to do with the spirit of GiantBomb, period.

I'm perfectly find with having clan matches, and hoping people show up for it. Just to goof off and have fun. But once you start acting disappointed because no one showed up for it, or having an after-match "analysis" of how people played. You are taking it too far. If no one shows up, the attitude should be "Oh well, there's always next time."

Lastly. There are no "Leaders" of the GiantBomb clan. Unless it's Jeff, Brad, Ryan, or Vinny leading it. Or even one of the other staff members/moderators. I realize that there has to be a leader of the clan, and that's fine. But it's in name only, with no kind of power attached to it.
If it's possible, i for one think that everyone in the clan should be an officer. If there is no limit to how many officers you can have. For two reasons. One, that stays within the spirit of GiantBomb, and everyone being equal. And secondly, it will allow people to create clan matches on a whim. Just for the fun of it.

Let's get this thing back to fun. It's starting to hedge dangerously close to being serious. And again, if you are going to go that route, fine. Just create a different clan without the GiantBomb name anywhere on it.

I think i missed my match. I kept looking at the schedule, and the one i was planning on being at said it was on "Sunday, March 14th" so all weekend i was thinking it was on Sunday, and so i didn't even really log on today at all. But then i saw the clan message saying it was today at 1:00PM... Anyways, the typo on this thread schedule got me confused, and i didn't show. Sorries.

"I'd say Zangief is pretty simple to pickup and play. OK his ultra may look impossible to pull-off, but the controls are very forgiving and by jumping in you can buffer the movement input and pull it off as soon as you land, same goes for his 2 360-degree supers.

I actually have a really hard time pulling of Zangief's 360 moves. Albiet, i don't have a tournament stick. So maybe that's my problem. But i have a gamepad, and it's still super hard for me to do them without jumping before i get it off. I've tried doing the jump in and input the move in the air thing, but i usually just get kicked in the face as soon as i jump in at somebody. Or uppercut. So that pretty much screws any attempt to jump in and input the command so that it executes as i land.

And as for Guild. Oddly enough, i have an easy time doing his super and ultra. Doesn't seem much harder then most other charger character's super/ultras... The thing i do have a hard time with, is landing a flip-kick. Everytime i do it, the person i'm fighting just blocks, and uppercuts me as i'm coming down. I hardly ever get off a successful flip-kick.

I realize almost every character in SF4 has a hidden level of depth, but humor me for a minute. Which characters do you guys think are more simple then the rest? I know Ryu has a pretty basic playstyle, and is good for noobies. Do any other characters fall in that catergory?
Lately i've been playing Sagat, because he basically only has 2-3 moves i have to remember. So it's easier to wrap my head around playing him. I was also thinking about giving Guile a go. He has 2 charge moves, plus a few really good regular moves that he can rely on. All in all he doesn't seem too complicated.

I ask because, some characters seem to have a list of moves that go on for miles, which is just too much for me. And others have a huge list of moves, but only a few of them are used a lot. Which is misleading. So i thought you experts could give some advice.

Thanks!

The one suggestion i would give anyone starting up on EvE; Join the EvE University corp. Being in a corp is vital, but finding one that will take in noobs is not that easy. EvE University is run by pros, and is all about taking in noobs. They have regular, nightly classes where they teach you the basics of EvE, and eventually move you into some of the more complex aspects of it. They are really good at feeding you a little bit at a time, so that you don't get overwhelmed. It's the entire point of EU. Teaching noobs.

Once you graduate, you can either stay in EvE University, and eventually become an instructor yourself. Or you can move on to any number of corps. Because by the time you graduate from EU, you have quite a lot of skillpoints earned, and experience under your belt. So most corps will want you... It would also be easier to create, and run your own corp after you graduate.

Only thing about started a new corp, is that it's a long hard road. Really, you need at least 20-30+ regular players in a corp to even begin to function properly, and pay for upkeep. It's also vital that before too long of a time goes by, you start looking for an alliance to put your corp in. Alliances are a huge part of the game, especially for smaller corps. A smaller corp can thrive if it's part of a big alliance.

If you guys think there are enough people on GiantBomb interested in creating a corp, then i say go for it. But be warned, running a corp in EvE is almost a full time job. It's not like forming and running some easy peezy guild in other MMO's. You will be the CEO of a Corporation. Which is almost as complicated as being a CEO of a real life Corporation.

Just a suggestion about squads:

I'm not sure if squads is something you can force, or prearrange. This type of thing usually happens naturally. The reason being, when you try and force it you usually end up with 2-3 guys on a squad never syncing their play times with the other 2-3 squad members. If it happens naturally, people will automatically gravitate towards clan members with similar play times, and styles that compliment each other.

I was on vacation over the past weekend, so i know i'm kind of late with the whole squad discussion thing, but i just wanted to point that out.

As for what squad i end up in, it's up to the leaders. I usually play the Saboteur class, and i have a pretty aggressive play style. I also play the Tactician and Medic every so often, as a backup class. But mainly the Saboteur... Not sure if that helps with putting me in a squad, but there you go.

=)

Some really good info for noobs like me, and the videos were great help. I came out of watching them with some things i'm anxious to try. Please, keep adding to it. I need this type of thing.

I've not run into this problem yet. Maybe you just need to shoot them in the face :P"

Well yeah, of course. I just have a hard time doing that on a unpredictable moving target. Oddly enough, in K2, a headshot is a 1 shot kill with any gun. Even the pistols. Which makes it even more odd when you need to get 6-10 shots body shots to get a kill, but only one lucky headshot. That's just to much of a discrepancy.

Ugh... The amount of bullets needed to kill someone in this game is really getting to me. I'll unload an entire clip on somebody, and they wont die. And i know i'm hitting them, because when you hit somebody a little red X appears in the middle of your screen, and 20 gallons of blood pours out of the enemy... Just pointing that out, because if you hear me screaming in the background over voice-chat, it's not directed at you or anyone else. It's just me screeching in frustration.  =P
