Top 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2012.

Its been awhile since I've done a list around here, so I figured why not, right? Here's a list of what I'm most anticipating coming out this year.

List items

  • Arguably the game I'm most stoked about, Halo 4 is everything I've wanted since Halo 3 ended. I've sat by and watched the Halo franchise milk out other installments (Halo Wars being the worst of them), and I sat through and dealt with Halo Reach, which I still feel ruined some aspects of multiplayer from the perfect balance that was set in Halo 3. Halo 4 promises not only to be the return of Master Chief, but the return of fantastic multiplayer. As long as we can balance the armor load outs (or simply not bring them back at all), Halo 4 will own everything else this fall.

  • Yes, I'm one of those weird people who enjoyed Resident Evil 5. In fact, I think that it is a phenomenal game. I am totally down with the return to a horror approach that RE6 looks like it's bringing, and the pairing of Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy seems to be a match made in heaven for Resident Evil fans. Yes, I'm still holding out hopes that Jill Valentine will be in the game at some capacity, but Resident Evil 6 looks like it's going to be huge.

  • Hell yes. Seriously, Borderlands was one of my favorite games of this generation. It came out of nowhere, and turned out to being the best combination of RPG stat building, Diablo looting, and first person shooting, combining all three aspects into one fantastic cooperative experience. Borderlands 2 promises to a bigger, more badass installment of this franchise. Plus you had to love that dubstep infused trailer.

  • Can we have a release date already? I've been anticipating a new Hitman game since 2006's highly overlooked Hitman: Blood Money. With the promise of being able to go all stealth or guns blazing, Absolution is ramping up to be quite an interesting sequel in this franchise.

  • Thank God we are returning to the tropical setting. While I in no way hated Far Cry 2, I was very displeased at the direction that game took. Far Cry 3 not only brings us back to the jungle, but the storyline promises to be one of the more intriguing this series has seen. While the original pc Far Cry will remain one of my favorite games of all time, I can't wait to see what Ubisoft brings with this installment.

  • I haven't been excited about an Assassin's Creed game since, well, Assassin's Creed 2. In the third installment, we not only get a new protagonist, but this is set during the American Revolution, and I can't think of a better, underused setting for a video game. The potential for this game is at an all time high, and I hope that Ubisoft can deliver.

  • It has been a long time coming, and I've been skepticle, especially when this game went through like a two year under the radar development hell, but Max Payne is finally making his way back on May 15th, and I for one am excited. It's been ten years since we've had any kind of Max Payne game, and unlike last years return of Duke Nukem, this looks like one game character who needs a return. I'm still a bit skeptical about how multiplayer will work, but I'm willing to try and confident that Rockstar will pull something good off.

  • Enough with the damn videos already, just give this game. I've been following the true sequel to Bioshock since it was announced, and everything about this game just appeals to me. The steampunk city in the clouds has me begging for more.

  • I've heard so much about this game from the pc releases, and while I could go out and drop the money required to upgrade my pc to a playable level for this game, I'd really rather just play this on console. Everything about this game screams epic to me, and it could be the first RPG to reach a level of amazement since Skyrim. Notice the words "could be".

  • To be honest, I really wasn't a huge fan of "Shadows of the Damned". I don't want to say that I hated it, because there were things I did enjoy about it, but I don't know if I have any desire to ever play that game again. With that said, Lollipop Chainsaw looks insane, and in the best ways possible.
