I pondered this thought before and I thought I couldn't do it. Make a list of my favourite games of all time... ha. How could I make a list that represents the games that I have loved the most without singling out games that I love, but aren't exactly my "favourite"? Well, this is my attempt at doing so.
Favourite Games in no specific order.
I will add more to the list as I think/remember some.
I was in daycare from a young age to about 10 or 11 years old and there wasn't much for me to do as I was much older than most of the kids there, but they did have a Super Nintendo and several of the games they had have a firm place in my heart. Donkey Kong Country is a game that I love so much that I've memorized it level by level and do speed runs through the game occasionally. This list isn't numbered in any specific order, but there's a reason I put this game on my list first.
My love for Resident Evil is undying. I love every single game that franchise has put out so much that they could all make it onto this list.
This is another game that I would pop into my daycare's Super Nintendo. I played through this game a ridiculous amount of times; and it's good that it made me want to take up boxing. Unfortunately, after a while, the daycare took it away because they thought that it was too violent for us; but that didn't stop me from wanting to play it. A few days later I sneaked into the kitchen, grabbed it, and started playing. The game was as great as ever. Sadly, a few weeks later, it was stolen by one of the kids.
A few years later I got a free NES from my dad's friend that had Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and found that it was the first game of the Punch-Out!! series that I never even knew existed. That was a weird case of nostalgia for me. Nostalgia for a sequel from the original game.
I eventually stumbled across a game called Fight Night Round 2 for the Gamecube and saw that Super Punch Out!! was included in it. I asked my dad for it and as soon as he bought it, I went home and played through it a ridiculous amount of times (again).
I had a monthly subscription to Expert Gamer magazine and one of the issues (coincidentally the same one with the Nemesis picture) came with a couple pages on this game letting you know how to work with all of the characters, woo all of the women, tend to all of the crops, and a bunch of neat tips and tricks. I instantly fell in love with the idea of the game and asked my mom for it for my birthday. Unfortunately, my birthday came and no Harvest Moon 64. She said she couldn't find it anywhere and I had last hope that I'd ever get it. Little did I know, my mom had a "task force" (actually just a couple of her friends) keeping an eye out for it for me.
A few weeks later my mom came in with a copy of Harvest Moon 64 and I was ecstatic. It is still one of my fondest memories of my childhood to this day.
I love all of the Zelda games, but this is the one that I would call my favourite. When my dad would pick me up from my Mom's and take me to his house he would stop at the Blockbuster and rent me a game; and on of those days he rented this game for me and I played it for hours. My dad, as awesome as he is, saw how much I loved this game and bought it for me for my birthday.
This is also the game that got me one of the best friends I've ever had. One day I was outside of my dad's house, playing Link's Awakening DX, and a boy saw me and asked what I was playing. I told him and he quickly ran away. A few minutes later he came out of his house, with his gameboy, and showed me he owned the game too. We spent hours and hours hanging out and playing this game, helping each other out on parts that were hard, and just having an awesome time. We did much more than just play this game (and Pokemon), but this is a game that will always stick in my heart for that reason.
