Games are supposed to be fun. That's why Borderlands is my game of the year. Yes, it's flawed, but it's also fun. I've sunk more hours into this Diablo-style FPS/RPG than any other game this year, and I'd gladly return to Pandora any time my friends want to play co-op.

Somewhat of a niche fighting game, but also one of the deepest and craziest games I've played in that genre. None of the characters play even remotely similar to another, and there are subtle touches like combo shortcuts and the ability to search by skill level online that makes Blazlue a truly outstanding game.

Not only is this a vast improvement over the original, but it's also one of the most complete action/adventure games I've ever played. The story is excellent, the gameplay is varied this time around, and it truly sucks you into the experience.

Dragon Age is not only a throwback to classic fantasy role playing, but one of the best Western RPG's I've ever played. The branching paths, deep gameplay, and epic storyline makes this one of the best games of 2010.

This game is just plain ridiculous. It's amazing sense of humor is the highlight, but the game itself is a very unique take on puzzle platforming. Add in the crazy multiplayer, and you have the best XBLA game of 09.

Less of a game, and more of an interactive work of art, The Path is simply indescribable. It can be downloaded for between $5 and $10, so do yourself a favor and experience it for yourself.

I confess that I haven't played much of Uncharted 2, as I don't own a PS3. For that reason, I am somewhat guessing as to its placement on the list. I have played enough of it to recognize its excellence though, and Naughty Dog has been one of my favorite developers since the glory days of Crash Bandicoot. I look forward to playing this game more in 2010, and I will adjust its placement and this description once I do.

LoL is like DoTA, but without the balancing issues, awful community, and limitations that come from being a mod. League is just a ridiculously fun multiplayer experience, and I've had problems playing this in moderation.

The online multiplayer would be a lot better if it weren't for the awful community, but it's still an addicting shooter with a ton of options and different play styles. However, the main reason it makes the list is the amazing split-screen. Now you can create your own classes offline, and with all of the online options available for split-screen as well, it makes for the best 4 player split-screen FPS I've played since TimeSplitters 2.

NHL 10 is to NHL 09 what Modern Warfare 2 is to Call of Duty 4. That is to say that it takes an already outstanding game and adds options, gameplay refinements, and other improvements without damaging the core gameplay. I love hockey, but you don't need to be a fan of the sport to like NHL 10. It works as an excellent game on its own, and the Be a GM Mode is perfect for franchise mode nerds like me.
