GOTY 2014

*subject to change* My favorite games of 2014

List items

  • This game made my purchase of a PS4 worth it. Its the first Playstation game I earned a platinum trophy in. The depth of enemy character variation is down right impressive. This game also kept my itch to search out every type of hidden item and artifact by giving helpful hints and expanding on the story and overall game progression. A must play in my opinion. Is it too soon to claim "Game of a Generation"?

  • One of the best COD games since 4. The story is exciting and the multiplayer is fun. The addition of the exo-suit makes the movement and play style different enough without changing the feel too much and I found myself adapting just fine both in the campaign and online.

  • A brilliant re-release of one of my favorite PC games ever. It adds enough to make it seem new and fresh while keeping with the same unique, but often gross, art style and dark subject matter. I see myself playing this game for sometime and seeking out as many items, endings and other hidden treasures in this wonderful little rouge like.

  • The Madden Ultimate Team mode keeps me coming back again and again. Although it can be seen as a huge money grab and some of the prices for card packs and in game currency are down right insane, having to buy in is all but voluntary. I myself have been able to update my team how I want and build the team I like without having to buy pack after pack. The weekly updates and challenges are also fun reasons to jump back once in a while and see what players are being promoted and celebrated. With all that being said updated rosters and franchise modes are usually enough for me to justify buying Madden year in and year out.

  • I agree with all of the negativity towards this game, but I found myself still playing it. I had been absent from wrestling games for sometime so I have little to compare this to but the story modes and create a superstar modes kept me playing and unlocking wrestlers, attire and arenas for a good bit of time. (Also I missed CM Punks entire run in the WWE and I'm sad I will never get to see him 'rassle live... Oh hey he's in UFC now. Awesome!) ((yeah and there is that 9.99 thing too))

  • Had this game not been free on PS+ I probably never would have played it or even heard of it for that matter. I finished this game in 2 sittings and found it very enjoyable. The strange character models and "voices" were weirdly enjoyable and add a like-ability to this game like no other I can think of. Oh and I think I'm a sucker for equipment and stat upgrades and this game is full of 'em.

  • P.T. was a huge surprise for me. I didn't even finish it myself because I found it so scary. I did however watch it being played multiple times. This game was a fascinating look into how to do a teaser and debut for an upcoming game.

  • The variants make this game so much fun. Great couch multiplayer and just a down right fun game.

  • Kick started it. Played it on OUYA. Thought it was scary and the art was impressive. Became a fan of the creator Matt Gilgenbach. Good stuff all around.

  • Its got some pretty fun games. Couch co-op/multiplayer isn't dead. Trash talking is a must.

  • All the same Trials fun with updated stick controls and beautiful HD graphics on current gen consoles!?! Yes, please! I'm definitely not the best at this game but I find it fun and challenging and I'm glad I picked this one up.
