@beartaco: I didn't mention Abby bro.

In fact my ranking would be:

Vinny > Jeff > Alex > Brad > Abby > Jan > Jason > Ben

So... okay?

Vinny has been pushing the sale HARD, and the end of The Hotspot this week is the biggest example of this.

I feel GB has dropped massively in terms of quality personalities and content in the last five years, to the point where I will let my sub run out in October (been a member since day 1), but I've never felt the site was in financial trouble... until now?

The content, for the most part, feels so stale. And why do most people (especially West) seem to have such a dislike for their audience - the people keeping them in the job?

I've followed the guys since Gamespot in 2005. Subbed day 1. Never let my subscription lapse, until today. I had to cancel because the content has got so formulaic, the new hires aren't the best (Ben, Jason and Jan kill West content for me), and the staff don't seem to be engaged with their audience at all.

GOTY was the last nail in the coffin. The community hated it last year, they did it again this year, but somehow even worse.

I felt GOTY was done with a "like it or lump it" attitude, so I'm lumping it.

If things improve I'll re-sub, but since GOTY hardly any of the content appeals to me, so not sure that will be the case.

Out of all things that could be viewed as wrong with GAF, "politics"(gods I hate the use of that word in this way because it legitimizes the viewpoint that progressive inclusiveness is somehow a political opinion) was not one of them.

It was fairly unique place that went above and beyond at making sure that most of awfulness of internet is kept away from there. IF anything that was one of the strong-points of that place and what set it apart from toxicity and bigotry that usually overruns gaming communities.

I got banned once for saying GTA 5 didn't *need* to have a female protagonist, because Rockstar should make the game they want to make, and not be forced into doing something purely for the sake of diversity.

And I'm someone who likes playing as female characters in games because it's a nice change from the norm.

But nope, banned for 14 days for saying Rockstar should have the right to make a game with just male characters if they want.

NeoGAF got far too militant in its political views. Unless you had what they deemed to be the 'right' opinion, you would basically get grouped up on and banned.

I am for gay/trans right, anti-racism, believe there is a sexist issue in society and gaming, etc etc, but most people on the board took it too far.

It makes it all the more hilarious that Evilore is actually a sex offender (and of course one mod is a confirmed paedophile, and a few others acted in a way which suggested they were too).

And, worst of all, the political side of if infiltrated gaming, to the point where most game discussions somehow got heated and talked about social issues etc when it wasn't really needed.

I have no interest in a NeoGAF 2.0 which is started by these same people, with the same views enforced.

I will miss GB-GAF though.

Not really complaining, but I'm curious if there were time and/or budget constraints for this year. Considering barely anything happened on the site for three weeks, I thought it would be like last year where they were planning something just as big, but they don't even have personal top ten videos and the video recap seems like half the time compared to previous years.

Oh well. At least there's the podcasts.

Yep with the lack of content recently I was expecting something even grander than last year, not ten steps back.

The theme of the videos is clearly less ambitious and less entertaining than the fake TV shows last year. And then to top it off they don't do Top 10 videos this year either.

Kinda lazy GOTY I think... podcast was good, at least?
