Alex doesn't seem to enjoy the combat of Mass Effect very much, and most of the playtime of Andromeda is just irrelevant excuses to send you into prepared combat encounters. The rate at which they dole out plot is massively cut down from ME3, and plot is probably the only thing they would actually want out of the game. A full playthough is probably a bad idea.

I'd like to see Alex's take on the scenario and intro to the game from the first few missions, and I think the COVID limbo is a great time to do some weird and possibly bad content, but I'd understand if they don't want to start a feature that doesn't really finish.

@bmaxwell: I too have worked retail and I can also confirm that Wonderful Christmastime is an offense to the senses like little else. But did you know that Owl City has multiple christmas songs? I'm not entirely sure which song I was subjected to, but if I can recognize that I'm listening to Owl City then I am having a fucking bad time.

The only impactful renegade choice I remember from Alex's playthrough was when he set a krogan on fire who screamed horrifically as he burned to death. So I'm sure that colored his opinion. Also I think a bunch of the renegade prompts (that Alex didn't take) imply that renegade Shepard won't help people who paragon Shepard will, which will seem pointlessly evil if you take the paragon option every time.

Actually, can't you execute those construction workers who locked themselves in a room? There are times in ME2 where they almost let you go straight Revan.

Valve has got the capital to undercut the prices of every other store at a loss, effectively running them out of business, which they frequently do with their steam sales. How is that fair?

What does this mean? I've never heard of Valve setting the price of a game independently from the publisher/developer, and I've never heard of them undercutting another store either. They take 30% of the sale, same as every other store before Epic, and their sales aren't any deeper than other storefronts so who are they running out of business?

You seem to have listed most of the reasons why Epic existing is good for Epic. If it doesn't do anything for me, why should I be happy? If competition is good, you should have a fact that demonstrates that.

The EGS barely affects me at all, and the only feeling I have towards it is extremely slight annoyance. If other people are more affected then I'm not surprised they are angry, because at this time the people who aren't playing the free games have zero positives to balance out the perceived inconvenience.

If you're wondering why a mild negative experience can kick off a giant internet dogpile then I have no answers for you, other than that "completely fucking bananas" is totally normal and expected with these things.

I voted for Surviving Mars, but I don't know if the "constant demands on your attention" genre is really right for a GB series. I love the direction Stellaris took with the latest expansion (even though it made the AI a basket case) but they introduced so many choices that the game isn't watchable unless the player is already an expert.

@ll_exile_ll: To piggyback on the hardware-oriented nature of Sony, where does that leave them if streaming is the future? Nintendo is obviously fine, but what does Sony have to offer if that's where the business goes?

Don't they need a lineup like Take Two's in that case, simply to remain one of the top 3 players?

I can't really fault them for not nominating a game that didn't hold their interest. But I also think they got the top 3 right.

NWN1 on a console is one of the weirder ideas I've heard for a video game.
