discovered these guys around the beginning of the summer and absolutely loved their album, Exmilitary. some of the rawest shit i've ever heard. here's an interview with one of the founders, the interviewer's lame but still interesting for the answers.
you can download the album from their site here thirdworlds.net
@I_smell: totally cool, thanks for posting. i added all that in hopes the thread wouldn't be flooded with "Youtube spam!!" so any discussion is welcome.
here's the newest Odd Future video from their newest project The Internet. Syd the Kid and the Super 3.
fans familiar with OFWGKTA will know this isn't something out of the blue. Another Odd Future group, Jet Age of Tomorrow, does a lot of instrumental work that doesn't cross over into the offensive or aggresive side that OF are more well known for.
so what do you think? i dig the song, the video was alright, although funny at the end.
if you're not a fan of Odd Future, or more specifically Tyler, the Creator, i'd like to hear what you think.
Although it is widely assumed that the word football, or "foot ball", originated in reference to the action of a foot kicking a ball, this may be a false etymology. The historical explanation has it that the word originally referred to a variety of games in medieval Europe, which were played on foot. These sports were usually played by peasants, as opposed to the horse-riding sports more often enjoyed by aristocrats. This explanation is supported by the fact that the word football has always implied a wide variety of games played on foot, not just those that revolved around kicking a ball.
However, there is no conclusive evidence for either hypothesis regarding the origins of the word.
The word "soccer" originated as an Oxford "-er" slang abbreviation of "association", and was popularized in the late nineteenth century by a prominent English footballer, Charles Wreford-Brown. This origin is evident in the sometimes-heard variation, "soccer football".
so while i guess that's not really a definitive answer, makes sense to me.
@MaddProdigy: alright man, you don't have to like it. but stop acting like you know what's good and your opinion is the end all be all. these kids are obviously having the time of their life making the music they wanna make, and that i can get behind.
you have no sense of humor. and you have shitty taste.
