Exclusivity. It is the bread and butter by which the consoles generate both new users and also the intense loyalty that leads to flame wars among fans but what the companies don't seem to realize is that with some well calculated cross platform releases they may be able to draw in additional gamers.

What I'm proposing here is a small amount of brokered peace between the two main rivals Microsoft and Sony (let's face it, Nintendo is in their own world). A sort of prisoner exchange set up to let both sides have a little taste of what the other is missing. I'm not saying that whole series should make the jump. That would defeat the purpose. I mean that the first installment of each company's mega hits. An Uncharted:Drake's Fortune for a Gears of War or Original God of War for Fable (if they decide to do an HD remake).

In fact many of the recent glut of remakes might make excellent candidates since they'd probably make easy conversions. There are quite a few possibilities for this program. The hope here is that by exposing the "other side" to the wonders of the other platforms exclusive content each company might woo more potential customers into purchasing a second home console. Or at the very least come away with a bit more of an appreciation for what each has to offer.

Really this should be called an Ambassador program but Nintendo took that for their 3DS mea culpa.
