@Demoskinos: Amen, duder!
I never would have been able to say those kinds of things to my mom as a kid. I remember one time when i was like 6 or 7, I was supposed to be doing homework, and just would not get around to it, I instead had to go to the "bathroom" and was playing my OG gameboy(killer instinct btw). Well after an hour of "taking care of business", she new what I was doing and was demanding i get out. I tried to hide the gameboy in my jeans cuz ya know, at 6 or 7 I thought I was a genius, and came out spewing bullshit that I was sick. She reached RIGHT to where I hid that damn brick, took it from me as I was like "MOM NO NO MOM!!!" and then proceeded to, I shit you not, "spike the football in the endzone" is the best way I can describe it. Smashed the thing into a MILLION pieces. You know the scene in the Watchmen movie, when Dr. Manhattan kills Rorschach at the end, and Nite Owl screams out? That was me, dropping to the knees screaming "NOOOOOOOO!!!!" and everything. I did my homework when I was told after that.
Thinking back on that now, man I cant help but crack the hell up. But my mom did what needed to be done, I got the belt, I got grounded and all that old school parenting stuff. I am a well adjusted, funny, respectful, and socially capable young man. Nothing bad came of it, I didnt turn out psycho or anything, and me and my mom have a great relationship. But she was the Parent. I was the Child. Thats how it has to be, and nowadays everybody thinks you have to be your kids "friend". You cant be their friend and their parent at the same time. Its sad that that kind of parenting is deemed "too harsh" these days. I applaud what this guy did. Extreme? Maybe, but did he get his point accross? Absolutely. That kid will think twice, at the least, before doing what she did again.
