This is a big, flashing sign to where the industry is heading. Single player, narrative driven games are seen as too much a risk to these huge publishers.

yeah, it's a bummer. hopefully the gap between AAA and indie team production-values closes sooner than later. who knows- maybe this will drive legitimate innovation amongst smaller teams willing to take risks that larger teams can't/won't.

still a tremendous bummer though.

i will forever be a lover trapped inside a hater until abby comes correct regarding certain attitudes around certain recording artists.

*coughBEATLEScough*

no but real talk- abby's fucking great! this place is at least 300x radder with her around.

realest talk: i'll never be able to deal with this shortform nonsense. "PODS" ARE FOR PEAS- NOT YOUR EARS.

This actually isn't that big of a deal for the average person.

of this website? sure. but in my experience the average person doesn't update anything, ever.

@fisk0: from what i've been able to understand- it affects both access points and client-side devices, so they're advising consumers to focus on patching their devices (smartphones, tablets, pcs, etc) as updates come in. although i'm sure it wouldn't be a bad idea to check in on your modem/router firmware over the next few weeks if that's an option for you.

from the krackattacks FAQ:

What if there are no security updates for my router?

Our main attack is against the 4-way handshake, and does not exploit access points, but instead targets clients. So it might be that your router does not require security updates. We strongly advise you to contact your vendor for more details. In general though, you can try to mitigate attacks against routers and access points by disabling client functionality (which is for example used in repeater modes) and disabling 802.11r (fast roaming). For ordinary home users, your priority should be updating clients such as laptops and smartphones.

microsoft already has something in the works.

it's also worth mentioning that a hacker would need local access to the wifi- so while public/semi private spaces are sure to be a shitshow, your home wifi (presumably) isn't as accessible and therefore vulnerable.

it doesn't pull me out of the game, but i 100% understand why it might for some.

everyone has their sensitive spots- areas or subjects that might distress you where for others it's not even a blip. for me, its Prison Architect. i can see where for some it might be Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

hmm- the fact that they're alluding to a redemption arc for emo vader explicitly in the trailer is weird. i've never doubted for an instant that's where the narrative would end up (cuz duh), but this seems a little too on the nose.

i'll see it for sure, and these movies are decent, but i really need rey to become the villain for it to be compellingly interesting.

HBD!

this is a great idea- i might do the same for my superfluous humble bundle keys in march.

i don't currently have a GPU/console that can run this game, but as soon as i do i'll likely pick it up (steam sale or otherwise).

what i've seen seems neat, and brad seems to be having a good time with it (see: this week's UPF). unless his impressions take a hard left, it seems like it'll be a decent sequel.

@beachthunder: @boonsong: thanks for the words of encouragement/moral support!

just finished! totally got into one of those trance-like-states for about 2hrs where all i could do is try over. and over. and over. funnily enough, though, i never really got frustrated. there's something really interesting about the casino/dice king. i can see (given the setup) how some would find it unbearable- but for me, seeing just how many more amazing animated characters there were with each run (and the fact that i was learning more with each attempt) really kept me glued to the seat.

this game is super rad- i hope this studio does some more work with 2D/traditional animation, because hot DAMN this was a blast.

ps- my toughest boss was FOR SURE that bloody robot.
