Uncharted 3 - Stream of Conscience... Beer May Have Been Involved

Loved the opening bar scene. Of course everyone was bald or their head was shaved = bad guys. The cinematic finishes combined with a poor man's assassins creed melee system were phenomenal.

Sully & Drake back story was terrific, except for the multiple deaths during the chase from the museum. That killed the movie like flow. Love the character movements = natural. The doves acting as guides was a nice touch.

Our first true twist of the game.

Ha. McDuff clarification. I had a dog McDuff.

The opening chapters show what an adventure game without guns could be.

And now I learn that the mechanics are still brutal. Want to pick up ammo? Run back and forth over the spot. Good luck. Why not just have an auto pickup. Why make it so I might grab a gun I don't want instead of ammo? Shoot a guy in close... good luck.

That floor map was tough. Nice.

Weird LSD/mind control dart... Yeah. No.

Find artifact, then await bad guys. This is now a tired trend.

Queue the next character to say "Drake you're obsessed"

Yemen, the land of hookahs.

Leaking pipe on a building roof. Nice touch. Helps the battle against a static environment.

Ha. Smacked a dude with a fish. KO!

Why do all the bad guys wear black suits with red ties? There better be a reason, otherwise it's lazy and boring.

Still has great writing, "well well well... it's a well".

Pirates! Red bandanas? Check. Whiskey? Check. Boat graveyard? Check. The same enemies re-skinned? Check. Amazing water graphics and movement? Check. Fun? Absolutely.

Why am I going to the radio room on a derelict ship? I'm sure the radios are still functional... The only thing still functional.

At the airport now. These waves of bad guys are becoming repetitive. Clear the first wave, then shotguns and snipers.

Stowaway was pretty cool. Why do I have an absolute urge to inspect the crash site? Why won't they let me.

Every time the cut scenes start I feel an absolute sense of joy. By the way, that's a bad thing. This is not an MMO and I am not grinding, but that's what the game-play feels like.

The Dessert: I expected great things. Instead it was bizarre. It really didn't matter which way I walked as the transitions triggered regardless of where I was going. On that note, what's up with Sully. "when there was only one set of footprints I carried you blah blah blah". Voice overs about crickets, pass.

And saved by Kazim, sorry, not Kazim from the last crusade, but his twin brother, Salim. Instead of guarding the grail, this guy guards the city. By the way, he and his people live on the edge of a lush lake in this supposedly uncrossable dessert. Queue horseback battle. Nazis?

Sand battles, snipers, standard drill.

Sully. More acid trip gas. Running through Cartehenia. Tripping, but you know what? I can still find treasures. Please stop. I wish could turn them off. I have over 50 which means I am just over halfway there. Really, they add nothing except for time to the campaign.

ummmmm, Sully? What is this, ME2?

I feel like Drake is in a carbon copy of the city from U2. Am I going to experience the naughty dog version of the warthog run conclusion again. Will the city be destroyed? Give me a few.

I can't remember the last game that was punishing as a result of bad mechanics.

Back to that earlier question, yes, but like the rest of the game it does it beautifully. Most importantly, U3 finished on an emotional upbeat note similar to 2.

Solid, but not as good as 2.
