I really like a lot of this game. I like the art design and I was surprised at how well they handle their lore. A game that riffs on biblical conceptions of heaven, hell and the Apocalypse certainly has the potential for a really dumb story. It comes down to two different comparisons for me: Arkham Asylum and Ocarina of Time. Yes, the core of this game is Zelda, but there's not quite enough personality to make it feel like a classic Zelda. Everything in the world is dark and it's all simply about combat. There's no interesting towns or characters to break up the feel. More to the point though, the puzzles in the game just aren't as satisfying. They don't come with the feeling that you just figured out a neat little puzzle. The Batman comparison is because the game's combat never quite has the weight I've come to expect after playing Batman. There certainly are some neat finishing moves, especially on the bosses, but fighting simple enemies becomes monotonous very quickly.
