Probably won't achieve it this year but: find a less miserable forum on which to post about games. >_<

If anything I could stand to play more games than I did the year previous, but I should probably scale back on JRPGs since I played through way more than I usually do in 2020.

I THINK I'm ready to finally buy a Switch but boy am I put off by the unyielding software cost associated with Nintendo hardware. And that will undoubtedly lead me to breaking my previous statement as there are a number of JRPGs on there I've been wanting to get into.

Never played FF11 but I remember wanting to at the time. Back then MMOs were still a fun novelty that not everyone had access to. No offense intended but I think you're at a very strange age to have suddenly gotten into Square RPGs over the past few years, let alone their first attempt at an MMO. I myself still want to try getting into FF14 at some point but I'm still eternally swamped with stuff to play. Chrono Cross is an interesting if not confusing game in my memory. Should be a fun throwback though I can also see a reality where you nitpick it into oblivion.

This news sucks. I've been wondering where he's been for a while, never even crossed my mind to think there was a serious health issue. When I got back into wrestling he was easily one of most impressive guys that I had no prior knowledge of and yet it became depressing how underutilized he was on the main roster. I thought for sure things were looking up for him creatively when he joined AEW and BTE so it's an even bigger tragedy that he left us so soon. May he rest in peace.

Need to revive thread just to say that I desperately need a Gintama game done in the style of Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Honestly you wouldn't need to change much.

I love hearing cool people talk about games, so it's too bad that Dan is in this. KAPOWZA!

I liked the game overall as well. I think my biggest gripe is how easy it was. I made the mistake of trying to grind through all the narrative bits as far as I could before having to do any Destruction missions and honestly it was a drag at times. While the story parts are intriguing and beautifully rendered they require no thought to play through, there are no puzzles merely tasks. And although I liked the tactical portions they posed pretty much no difficulty all the way through on Normal (and some Intense). Like you get a bonus if you get consecutive wins and that counter never reset once for me. Only one battle in the entire game brought one of my sentinels down to less than 75% health and that was it. Finally, I liked most of the big story twists but I might've preferred if the simulation wasn't purely virtual, story could've worked just as well or better if it were clones running around in bio-domes or whatever. In the end I think it all works for the most part in the context of the game and while playing it felt like busy work this was still one of my favorite games this year.

I've finally started playing Yakuza: Like a Dragon, touched for the very first time. I'm quickly falling for this incredibly quirky JRPG. It never even occurred to me that a game like this could be done in this style. I have to applaud the effort of the localization going so far as to adjust the lip sync for the English dub. And the dub itself is also really good so far. I thought about changing it at first but when it comes to JRPGs English dubs are always a guilty pleasure for me. After playing Yakuza 6 and Judgment on a base PS4 I figured this game wasn't going to run well there either, so I'm glad I chose to play this on my PC because it's running better than I thought it would.

Seems like people have given all the best answers already. I'd just concur with mentions of Condemned and Dying Light. Could Dishonored qualify here? The melee fighting's decent enough I guess though I think most would agree the crazy powers are what make that game shine.

@the_nubster: I was itching to bring up Breakdown for this topic. I've never played it but I recall people being impressed by its commitment to the first person view. Glad someone was able to speak to it.
