Weekend Gaming! 05.28.10

Since I got my Wii and Red Dead Redemption, I've been way too busy playing games to blog about them, but I finally found a few minutes.  Last weekend my college roommate Joe came to visit.  We played a little bit of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and a little bit of Boom Blox Bash Party, but we mostly just did a lot of drinking, so that's why I didn't end up blogging last weekend.  I started playing Super Mario Galaxy (I know, that's so 2007) in prep for Super Mario Galaxy 2 (slowly on its way to my house via Amazon) and I beat it in about 3 days.  I only have 61 stars so I'll get back to it eventually, but I need to take a little break.

Tonight I'm headed to the Red Sox game at Fenway Park, but it's a three day weekend, so that still leaves plenty of time to play the following games:

  • Red Dead Redemption (360):  I'm in love with this game.  I've been wanting to play a western for so long now, and after getting a taste of Redemption at PAX East, I've been waiting for its release.  I'm about 13 hours in so far and I'm really enjoying the western landscape and everything thing that fills it.  I was surprised at how quickly the game opens up at the beginning.  I feel like it kind of pushes you out into the wilderness before you're ready.  And yes, my horse was killed by a mountain lion more than once (those things are like ninjas).  Also, the multiplayer is pretty fun, but a little janky.  Better than GTAIV though.
  • Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii):  Got this in the mail from Gamefly a few days ago, but I haven't touched it yet.  I'll probably put in a few hours this weekend.
  • Forza 3 (360):  Alright, I think I'll be able to wrap up the rest of the events this weekend.  It'll take some determination, but I think I've got it.  I've sunk 109+ hours into this game and I'm so close to that S-rank.
  • Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (360):  I'll be working on my Assault and Recon classes this weekend.  Hit me up if you want to play (GT: JMoney156).
  • Super Street Fighter IV (360):  I really need to break out my fight stick and get in some matches.  JomegaTheGreat, are you ready for a challenge?

I'm officially taking a break from Final Fantasy XIII.  I let Joe borrow it and he's lying to me and telling me he enjoys it.

Go Celtics!!

@fugie7:
Forza 3 is the best sim racing game I've ever played.  It's more accessible than ever before, and I loved every minute of the 118.5 hours I spent with it (save for the boring drag races).  If you're a sim racing fan definitely pick it up.  It's only $40 now at Amazon, Gamestop or Walmart.  If you like racing games but prefer them arcade-style, this is probably not the game for you.  The demo on XBL gives a pretty good representation of the game, even though it only has 1 track and  5 cars, so I suggest you check that out if you already have a 360.

I still haven't spent enough time with Prime 3 to give you a decent answer.  I'm not really digging the controls, but I heard it was pretty good, so I'll stick with it.  I'll try to give you an update in the future.
