Some legitimate feedback:
Leveling each class to level 10 will unfortunately not provide you with a very deep view of what each class does/is capable of. It all comes down to what you want to do. First decide:
Do you want to PVP or stick to the dungeon content?
Then decide:
What role do you want to fulfill? Do you want to DPS? Do you want to tank? Do you want to heal? Do you want to support the group in some other way? Do you want to use magic? Do you want to be independent of magic?
Easiest classes to level with are Rogue, Hunter, and Mage unless things changed since I left about a year ago. A good leveling class is one that can grind mobs for extended periods of time with little down time. A good leveling class can also take on and successfully solo-kill mobs that are 2 or even 3 levels higher than it. Hunters are particularly good for this.
In the endgame, each class becomes wildly diverse due in large part to the three branches in the skill-tree that each class possesses. Druids, Shamans, and Paladins are perhaps the most diverse in that each of their three specs (specializations) allow for anything from melee dps, magic dps, group buff support, healer, and tank.
In my mind, I've always been a DPS kind of guy. So I first made a rogue (melee dps) and then a mage (magic dps). Both of these classes are great at 1 on 1 PVP, at leveling, and at dealing disgusting amounts of damage. Though warlocks and hunters are often at the tops of the DPS charts as well. I will say that Mage is probably the easiest caster class to play with (you can create your own food and water for infinite health and mana restocks).
Really, there's no wrong class you can pick. You'll end up fulfilling one role or another, and it will likely be a blast if you can play your part like a semi-intelligent person rather than a borderline retarded 12 year old. Each class has a spec that is designed specifically with leveling in mind, so you shouldn't have trouble reaching level 80 with any class.
Race is a little tricky. Race is indeed largely aesthetic in WoW, but with one exception. Each race is provided with a racial bonus. Some of the best belong to Undead (Will of the Forsaken, which allows for a free Fear/Stun cancel), Night Elf (Shadowmeld, which acts a stationary stealth mechanic which is useful mostly for PVP), and gnome (escape artist, which allows for a free stun cancel).
Riotbananas, it's been a whole year since I've played the game, so I'm not sure how much of this information still holds true. The thing about WoW is that there are always different classes said to be the most OP, or overpowered. After a few months, a new patch comes out that changes some abilities around that makes a new class the most OP. It pretty much goes in cycles. I had a friend trade away an account with two maxed out characters: a priest and a hunter. He traded it for one maxed out character: a paladin. Paladins, at the time, were the best PVP support in the game. One patch later? Priests and hunters got treated quite nicely and Paladins got nerfed. So stick with whatever you choose.
