Oh,Binding Of Isaac. A 2D randomly generated Dark Souls. With permadeath, and many of your powers and status depending or your LUCK, it's not hard to see many people saying "Man, i took 8 hours to beat Mom." and things like that. Hell, there's a thread like that here on Giant Bomb! There are even some blogs out there using The Binding Of Isaac to discuss death in videogames and shit like that... But the thing is, i couldn't join the Dead Party until my second try...

I think the game makes it harder for you if ou are very lucky once. And now, i'm 8 hours without beating Mom again, *le sigh*.

But at least i can say: "Man, i beat Mom in my first try." like it was a real achievement.

I beat her first time too. It really helped though that I had a bunch of really awesome power ups from making deals with the devil so I could shoot charged up beams of blood out of my mouth for an absurd amount of damage. Course, I can't say that I didn't die, but since I bought 9 lives from the devil, it didn't matter that I died (though, me dying was then also entirely my fault, since deals with the devil cost you your hearts permanently and I didn't understand that until the second time through the game, buuuuut) congrats on not dying at all!

Yeah, but now you need to kill her again, and then her heart, which sucks. And then I think Jesus/Satan/God are next. Good replay value though, Cain's lucky foot thing is super useful (all pills have good effects).

I couldn't eve get past the 3rd of 4th floor. I haven't played that games in ages.

@MikeGosot: My recommendation is, if you collect enough coins - say 30 - then hit a slot machine (you can also summon one with a tarot card). If you're lucky, the thing eventually explodes and you get a big stinking dollar (well, 99 cents to be exact). It'll give you the achievement and you don't need to then go on to complete the game to unlock him. Just quit out and get on that shit double time. Enjoy spamming the shit out of everything with the lazer eye thing combined with the charge power up.

@MikeGosot: The first 6 times I beat the game was with maggy, which really just speaks to how diverse you can be when it comes to playstyle. Based on your love of dead bird and the whore it seems you aren't overly defensive, personally those are 2 of my least favorite items. If you haven't figured it out yet the less damage you take on a floor the higher chance you have of summoning a satan room after completing a boss which can be used to get a lot of great items (Brimstone being my go-to item personally as if used correctly you can walk into a room and immediately kill everything in 1 shot).

@MikeGosot: Brimstone allows you to shoot a laser beam from one side of the screen to the other that ignores rocks, armor, etc and assuming you have a good amount of power will just 1 shot most enemies.  It's particularly useful on bosses with adds because you can kill all the adds in 1 attack while also doing plenty of damage to the boss. Technology is a similar item you can simply find in item rooms, but it doesn't do near as much damage nor does it reach from one side of the screen to the other.  

I beat her my first try as well. I didn't announce it to the world though :( I also can't get back to her either. I tried loading it back up for the Steam achievement stuff, and the game just ran too poorly for it to be feasible to even try getting to Mom, much less trigger the achievement.

@MikeGosot: Mom is the harder part of the game, imo. When you get to play with Cain, everything feels easier. Lucky Foot is great. Now all you have to do is S-rank the game :)

@MikeGosot: Nice. Well, the good thing for those "No Damage" achievements is that you don't need any of the defensive stuff like increasing hearts and all that. You just go for offensive items. Then, well, then you just to have to mix luck with skill. That's why Cain is good, because he takes care of the luck side of things. All you need to do is play well.

Doesn't Lucky Foot has the same effect as PHD? Also, the good thing about not taking damage, is that your Pacts with The Devil are always worth it. And can you use Blood Donation Machines and still get the achievements?

Lucky Foot is luck. PHD is better pills. Things like items dropped, stuff in the item rooms, Satan rooms, chances and results in the Arcade room have all a luck factor in them. Lucky Foot gives you better odds at these kind of stuff.

I don't know about the Blood Donation Machines. But, you really don't need them, so why bother?
