@teddie: Oh wow, you are totally right and I didn't even think about donating to have it actually on the video proper. That's twice as fucked!

@a_e_martin: From what I heard, they go live Monday, 9AM BST, so 4AM on the east coast, and 1AM on the west.

@quid_pro_bono: Chats are usually the worst; something like Twitch is easy to sign up for and can normally guarantee a large amount of eyeballs looking at a particular stream at one time, making it perfect for drive-by spoilers. I've completely removed myself from anywhere people can post live.

@confusedowl: Yikes. Kind of expected it to happen since a wiki is publicly editable, but I figured they'd of locked that shit down to prevent something like this from happening so close to release. I wonder if they had the same problems during the MGS4 launch run-up.

Apparently this trailer is going to contain less spoilers than the previous, Konami edited trailer, so if you are worried about watching it for that particular reason, Kojima has you in mind.

@csl316: I found that statement really odd too. I wonder if something was lost in translation. Or maybe there's just less cutscenes than MGS4, so it's emoting less?

It's very possible, as that magazine described the Spanish translation as very poor, and is known for calling that sort of thing out. The fact that it got such a high score regardless is reassuring.

@jackelbeaver: Not at launch, and probably not in the form we're used to, i.e. it won't be his first playthrough. Plus, with the open world structure of the game, the run-time might be so much longer than any other MGS game that it's just unfeasible unless they go back to the Persona 4 Endurance Run days. With that in mind, I'd love to see it.

@geraltitude: @bbalpert: So I played it, and I'm glad I did. I found stealth to be more difficult with how things are handled now. When you lean up against a wall and walk to the side, you just keep walking past your cover, there's no snapping to the end of the cover it seems. And I don't know if you can do this anymore but I tried to do the lean up against a wall and knock on it technique to lure guards but couldn't find a button to do that. And now there's no radar, vision cones or the audio ring from mgs4 to detect nearby threats so that combined with not being able to snap to the end of a cover made it pretty tough for me to look out for nearby guards in an enclosed area like the tent areas. The binoculars/marking system makes it pretty easy for enemies out in the open though but I've having a rough time stealthing in those enclosed areas. Oh and also sound seems to play a much bigger role where you can knock over environmental items, open a door too loudly, or even crouch walking to an enemy from behind at full crouch walk speed will draw attention.

I felt the exact same way, especially about the peeking around corners. It took a LOT of getting used to not magnetically sticking to walls and corners like you did in the other games. Ultimately it's all in service of a more open/free movement system, but it could be frustrating initially.

I wasn't planning on doing so, but I may actually go back and try some of the other side missions just so I can make sure I've got those controls down by the time TPP comes out.

A LOT of this has been reported as fixed for TPP. The knock is back, you snap to cover in a better, more natural way, and there are many different, additional ways to help you spot enemies.

GZ was a very stripped down teaser which I personally feel was Konami's decision to release and not Kojima's. They probably wanted to recoup a bit of the budget on TPP so they carved out a section with reduced mechanics and charged $40 for it. All reports point to TPP refining nearly every aspect of the controls and Snake's movement.

@onemanarmyy: Well, sorta. In Metal Gear 1, Big Boss is the FOXHOUND commander. He receives an order to destroy Outer Heaven, so he sends in the newest member of FOXHOUND, Solid Snake, to do it. He did that on purpose; since Big Boss is the leader of Outer Heaven, he doesn't want the mission to succeed and figures he can take down a rookie version of himself.

How Big Boss comes to be the FOXHOUND commander (again) and the leader of Outer Heaven at the same time is currently unknown. It's possible we will learn this in The Phantom Pain, although that's just pure speculation with no evidence to back it up.

@johnymyko: Absolutely. Just remember that they changed the pre-order bonus from Sherwin-Williams to Valspar.

Get it? Phantom Paint? No? Never mind.

EDIT: That's really handy as your PS3/PS4 entry was messing up my column alignment. I like aligned columns!

...apparently the wait for this game has driven me absolutely insane.
