I don't know why this is a news story, regardless of whether it's true or not. For one, is PvZ2 such a huge blockbuster game that people care about it that much? I mean, the Bombcast was pretty sour on it after the whole micro-transaction deal.

Secondly, the practice of "buying" exclusivity is nothing new. Microsoft has done it by the dozens with various XBLA titles and full games such as Braid, BioShock, Lost Planet, etc. and Sony has been starting to secure console exclusivity for various PS4 titles as well.

It's simple really, we're all slaves. We're Valve's bitches.

Microsoft spends almost an entire week at E3 defending they're new policies and how it's "the right thing to do" for their company, only to completely change their stance a week later. It's pandering, and it makes me think less of them as a company for abandoning their philosophy and integrity so easily. I'll stick with the PS4.

Not that I don't have faith in Scoops, but this definitely needs to be confirmed before any relevant actions can take place. But if it is so, this would be HUGE (well, not to me because, frankly, used physical disc based games don't really matter (even though they seem to)). This would effectively take away the over-inflated crutch Sony has been leaning on for their entire platform in one fell swoop and instead of being muddled by fringe use-case policies consumers could actually focus on the relevant merits of each system.

In my honest opinion though, I don't see Microsoft actually doing this. I think it's more realistic to see a second SKU option with price drop. Then again, with so much at stake and the frivolous nature of word of mouth influence I guess anything is possible.
