If anyone is interested in seeing this new list G4 compiled a day ago, here's the link. If you want to see the list on G4's site itself, here's the link to that, but you have to go through the list by looking at one game at a time.
 
When I saw this list, I couldn't help cringe at how its formatted. I will say that I'm happy with some of the games' rankings on this list, like Tetris being in the top 5 and Super Mario Bros taking number considering that its the game that brought back gaming in the West. However, I gotta list a few stupid things that are on this list as well as about the list that piss me off! I want to see if you guys agree or not.  

• This list was compiled from hearing opinions of game developers, which is valid. But they also got opinions from celebrities and athletes to count in the list just to grab freaking attention. Just ask those involved with making the games for this industry as well as the gamers!  

• There are some massive omissions on this list. WHERE'S HALF LIFE 2?! Yeah Half Life1 made it on the list, but 2 is often considered the best game on the PC by many PC gamers! Also, where the Hell is Super Mario World? Miyamoto himself said SMW is where its at for 2D Mario.

• While I love to spend time on IPHONE game apps, having a couple of those on Top 100 games ever doesn't sound right to me. I also want to say that its sad to see Angry Birds ranked higher than classics like Mortal Kombat and Contra as well as modern greats like Fallout 3 and Mass Effect 2. 

• There is an utter lack of strategy gaming on this list. Only two strategy games (Civilization 2 and Starcraft) made it on this list. Where's Rome Total War? Where's Age of Empires I or II?! Where's Command and Conquer?! Where are countless other strategy gems that are beloved I swear when I saw nothing for those games, this was how I wanted to react:   
    Oh and I'm not done listing my issues:
• Why on Earth is Madden NFL 2005 on the list when it was clearly out shined by ESPN NFL 2K5 back in 2004? Oh yeah because its Madden.  

• Going back to CIv II, that is ranked 62 on the list. That game is ranked too low for something that is considered some of the best games made.

• Tony Hawk Pro Skater is on the list, but isn't 3 is considered the pinnacle of the Tony Hawk Franchise?

• I love Wii Sports, but I;m sure you're going to angry some hardcore gamers if that is ranked higher than Silent Hill 2 and Left 4 Dead for best games ever. Expect Valve fans to rage faster than

It's a list. They never have every game in the order you like them, and genre representation will always be skewed.

That said, this list is only slightly better than Rolling Stones' "revised 2012" 500 Best Albums Ever list, which is at times completely fucking atrocious (even after favoritism for classic rock is considered.) One thing you have to accept about this list is that it represents only one title from any given franchise with only a handful of exceptions (Mario, Zelda, Grand Theft Auto.) As a result, that's why you only see Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, and Half-Life. It is still weird to see iOS on "best games ever" lists, though it's certainly not strange to see them on "games this gen" lists. I think most critics would just agree that Angry Birds is not a fantastic game and that Sword & Sworcery, Jetpack Joyride, Tiny Wings, or even maybe Super Crate Box would be more fitting.

Don't take it too seriously, and you'll forget that it happened soon enough.

Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu isn't at the top of the list. This makes everybody involved with this list a terrible person.

It's dumb to complain about any videogame site favorite game list , where's The World Ends With You? where's Journey? why's NBA Jam and Gears of War on that list? , Why should tetris be on the top 5?, this notion that every "best games of all times" lists should include some Mario game or Half Life because they did something "remarkable" for the industry in their time automatically means they are the best games is dumb at end of the day it comes down to wich games you like ans wich are your favorites, not everybody shares the same opinions.

It looks about the same as every other website's "Top 100 List"

If somebody were to ever dive headfirst into gaming and wanted a top 100 and they bought all of those, then I'd say that they have a pretty wide variety and representation of the best of gaming over the years. I'd strike Wii Sports off of the list but everything else doesn't seem out of place.

You're comparing games that were never made to be compared. Also do you adopt the mindset of the player during that era? Cause otherwise what does Asteroids have to offer that literally anything made today doesn't? And If that's the case, isn't the list more "Games that impressed us the most when they came out"?

Considering Bioshock is #3 and Tie Fighter is #93. Yeah this list is complete and utter bullshit. System Shock and System Shock 2 aren't even on this list. XCom isn't on this list either.

Thats fine, but its games that should have impact on game design and the industry as a whole. Case in point, Halo 3 is on this list, and on top of that is higher than Halo. Does that make any sense?

How the hell does Angry Birds even make this list? What is innovative about that fucking game?

To be honest, they made first person shooters even more popular on the consoles, so I would say they had a huge impact, yes. They probably wouldn't make my top 100 list though (I wasn't a big fan of halo 3's campaign and I haven't played halo 1 in years so I couldn't comment).

Bioshock number 3, man I really didn't like that game to much. I also appreciate Minecraft being on that list.

I don't understand any other type of criteria for a list like this. A top 100 list should be games that should be gauged by innovation/influence. If they wanted to make a most popular list that is fine. But that is not the list they compiled.

I have no problem whatsoever with Halo being on a top 100 list. I have a massive problem with Halo 3 being on the list, and AHEAD of HALO.

At 99 when I saw Words with Friends I started skimming. Mobile games have a place but its definitely not on any "Top 100 Games of All Time" list. Also Bioshock at number three? I love it but the number three game of all time is a huge stretch. Angry Birds #49 is a joke because fuck that game.

Goldeneye was great and all but has anybody gone back and tried to play it in the last 5 years? Doesn't hold up at all. Certainly doesn't deserve to be in the top 10.

See, to me that is meaningless, Goldeneye should be on a top 100, and you can make an argument for that being in the top 10(not sure if it should be). It was pretty much the first major FPS game on consoles.

I wonder if lists like this would be better off as a bullet list without the numbers but the total amount listed, that would at least cut down on people getting upset on why one better game might get outranked by another. I find lists like this complete madness, doing a list of year by year is find but there's so many other good games that get lost in between that it just doesn't hold much attention for me.

I feel like they tried not to put too many games on the list from the same franchise. But then there was like 3 Zelda games in the top 10. It made no sense.

Because asteroids is mad good son. and also you can play it on a piece of paper. I think Jeff has said this before but objectively, isn't Tetris the best game of all time? its out on every platform everyone can play it and everyone loves it.

Half-Life 2 should have been number one, and while important, Super Mario Bros. is probably the worst traditional Mario game.

I'm fine with it being in the Top 100 but not the Top 10. To me, a Top 10 game should be something that you can go back and play at any time and still have fun with it. When me and my friends tried to play Goldeneye last year, we gave up after 15 mins because it was so frustrating.

Half of this list reads like a greatest hits, and the other half looks like a "What's Hot!" list from USA Today (or some such newspaper). Anyway, at least Spike TV isn't doing a top 100 li-

I don't think its crazy to say Tetris could be #1, its certainly one of the most proliferating titles of all time. You can make an argument. Not sure if its the most innovative in terms of game design. But I wouldn't freak out if someone put that at #1.

That is one of the biggest head scratchers on the list. Fuck, it shouldn't even be on the list.

Top Anything List are interesting and fun.  One thing to keep in mind is they ultimately boil down to opinion and you really should just relax.   At best they can raise a fun conversation and make you take a look at a thing you haven't heard of or ignored.   At worst a Top List attracts typical internet bullshit.
