Bye-bye Foil Gyarados

My fiancée recently found his old Pokemon Card Game decks in a closet in his parents house. Among the collection are foil Hitmonchan, Machamp and Gyarados, all pretty in their protective sleeves. I vaguely remember these from way back in jr. high more than a decade ago ago - mostly I remember thinking how much a bloody booster pack cost compared to my newspaper route income...

Now we venture on to the local hobby shop to see if we can trade it for a NES game or two... much better than collecting dust in a closet 150 km away!

LOL awesome! I too still have my collection of Pokemon cards (at least, they are around here somewhere . . .) that includes foils and even a few of the Pokemon First Movie (or whatever it was called, Mewtwo Strikes Back) promo cards. I should see how much I could get for them . . .

The thing is, I am a collector (I collect for fun) and that part of me really doesn't want to give them up. I keep telling myself that when I'm in a stable job I'd love to start collecting again just cause I enjoy the pretty pictures and collecting is fun. I think I stopped with the Pokemon cards after the Jungle set which was still the original Pokemon before Gold & Silver came out. So it's been a LONG time for me! Heck this is making me want to bust them out and look at them again! lol. Maybe I will . . .

But it depends on how much they'd give me for them . . . :P You are right that they do just collect dust . . . .
