  • Play some good old games.  Nothing is wrong with going retro when you can't get a hold of the newest releases.  I'm playing Vagrant Story and Metal Gear Solid VR Missions this weekend.  *EDIT*:  I know those two games aren't particularly retro but you get my drift.  Everyone's got a backlog.

Dawn of Sorrow FTW.  Follows the Symphony of The Night formula pretty closely.  I'm playing through Order of Ecclesia at the moment and it is good as well.

  • Thanks guys :)  I've just been unsold on this game.  Looks like something fun to play with but not to spend 120 of my hard earned money on.

  • The one where you have 18 tiles and you have to hit them on the chain link fence?  They apparently have a pattern.   It's the same boards that were used in Super Mario Bros 3 according to this GameFAQs guide.  Toward the bottom, he tells you how to figure out which board your using and how to maximize your item getting potential.     Since I'm not that great at 2D Mario ...

I never did use yoshi much either so I don't mind.  I tend to get killed more often with yoshi than without.    SPOILER WARNING: Click here to reveal hidden content.Although from one trailer I saw, it looks like one of the yoshi levels allows you to do some awesome infinite 1up scheme with a pit and 6 constantly firing bullet bills.

  • I was never that good of a mario player to begin with so i'm enjoying the challenge.  Once i've played the level a few times it's of course a little easier but it's managed to charm me.  I'm just happy as a clam playing a new 2d mario on a tv screen.  It feels like christmas all over again getting my Super NES and playing Super Mario World for the ...

FRIDAY

Get ready to FRIDAY.  Topher Cantler is ready.

Friday is the best day of the week because Friday is interchangeable.  Do not contain Friday to a series of six letters!  If your Friday has moved from it's usual address, you must seek it's guidance!

Start your FRIDAY the right way

On a couch!  This parody of I'm on a Boat by Andy Samberg has been my flavor of the week.

Hilarious.

FRIDAY.

I'm really excited to play it later tonight!  The last time I played a Punch-Out game was about 8 years ago.  Too bad it doesn't have any leaderboard of sorts...  :(

Awhile ago, I had setup my 360 to share my computer monitor with my PC with a kvm switch and 360 vga cables but because of the way I had my furniture arranged, I felt cut off from my entire "pad" and relegated the 360 back to the TV (32" standard def).  I moved shortly after that and again my PC was a little too cut off from my TV (small room so I like to put all electronic entertainment in one spot) so I kept the 360 o the TV.

I recently rearranged my room which brought my PC much closer to my TV and the idea to use my Monitor for my 360 dawned on me again.  However my fianée is also pretty tech savvy, so I can't hog the computer all the time and on the same token, we're both movie nuts (with a netflix subscription) so the 360 has to also be able to change pretty easily to the TV.  Trying to watch movies on my computer monitor is kinda blah seeing as It's 19" versus a 32" TV.

The idea I came up with was so simple, I'm surprised it hadn't dawned on me before.  Set it up like before but keep both 360 Audio/Video cables setup and just switch the connector on the 360 itself to determine which device to output to!  It's great simply because my fianée and I don't feel like we're keeping the other person from doing what they really want to do just because someone is using the TV or PC.

*UPDATE*

Got some images for ya'll:

I started playing Ghosthunter for PS2 on Sunday.  I began playing through the beginning "tutorial" level and was having a ton of fun.  You get rid of enemy ghosts you had to capture them (ala Ghost Busters) with a capture grenade that you throw at a ghost.  It embeds itself in a ghost and then you have to keep shooting the ghost until it's health is depleted before the ghost is captured with the grenade.  A ghost's health can be wore down without the grenade but there's no indicator of how much health it has left until you throw the grenade.  The advantage is that the grenade imobilizes some ghosts making it a slight bit easier to get a bead on it.

Pretty cool mechanic.  But then I began playing the first level.

I get through what I think is about halfway through the first level and I get a message in my journal saying "there's a weird ghost type coming up and you can't capture it with the grenade".  Ok, I figured it was a type of boss which is fine, because a boss is always different or more powerful than the average enemy.  No, I was wrong.  Every enemy henceforth has been an "uncapturable" type.  One of the coolest mechanics of the game was "ineffective" in the first level!

I really hope this doesn't continue throughout the game as I really enjoy the strategy of using the capture grenade with multiple enemies.  It was interesting and fun but just running around shooting "ghosts" is kind of dull, especially since the cover system isn't good and there's no quick dodge.  It feels more like a bad shooter.  But since I haven't completed the first level yet, I'll keep playing for awhile still.  These levels are long.

Repetitive, but excellent combat makes up for it. (X360)
In this game, you play as Spider-man trying to stop Venom from turning the entire city into monsters with the alien symbiote.  This is an original story, not based off any of the movies, so you don't have to endure Toby Maguire's abysmal voice acting throughout the game.  He's been ...
