The bummer to me is that even if they take out the "vote for next in series" feature, there are still certain kinds of videos that always win the vote by a landslide. People will always heavily vote for a Demo Derby or Metal Gear Scanlon over a regular Quick Look or Bombcast or "normal" video content. I hope Will and the engineers will experiment with removing the voting altogether for a few days, and see if it really hurts viewer numbers or not, because I'm already sorta tired of the hivemind preference of chat. Sometimes I wouldn't mind just wandering into GB Infinite and watching a Quick Look from 6 years ago that I barely remember, but that almost never happens under the current systems because people always vote in the 2 hour videos unless there's an exceptionally funny and memey shorter video.
Could not agree with this more. It's neat seeing some obscure things, but generic quicklooks are never going to win a poll compared to stuff like Metal Gear Scanlon or an Endurance Run.
I would take a 100% random, no voting GBI over any other option.
I like what one commenter said: it would be nice if it was like dedicated to a special time. Hell, even one day a week. You could have "Marathon Mondays" but have every other day be true random.
Marathon mode is a cool idea but I think it falls apart in practice. What if the entire P4 endurance run was screened due to winning the votes and then next week, P4 episode 16 is in the polls and happens to win the vote. The voters are pack animals and have a habit of always picking the next in the series, so that would just mean screening the almost entire endurance run again.
I like the idea of saving it for holidays or otherwise just one day a week.
