I used to just put a medium-sized catalog between the desk and the clamps on the underside of the desk to fill it out, so don't worry too much about that side of things, unless the desk isn't sturdy. As mentioned the pedals might be a little close to you.

Yeah, the pace car was too quick for comfort with cold tyres, at least around the bends, and especially if you wanted to try and warm the brakes and tyres. Seemed to slow down (too much) up the hill. We should really have just ignored it.

@andrewperkins: That was for the lead actually! I would have given you a little more room, but with that corner whenever I went too off-line I just slid off. You should have got a tow back to the pits, that's what I did and ended up finishing 6th. Well done on the MX-5 Cup win though!

Thanks for the race guys, and thanks to PsEG for arranging it all and putting it on. Shame I didn't convert pole into a win! Or a podium. Or a fastest lap. Lots of fun though! Well done everyone.

Saying that adding bot AI is difficult is totally reasonable. Insulting people for wanting bot AI just makes him sound like a total dick.

He didn't insult anyone, and certainly not in any of the text quoted here, all he said is that the concept of bots goes completely against the idea of the game.

As far as multiplayer-only games go, obviously it relies totally upon people being available to play against, and with Dan moving so quickly to try and get the sustained player count up to a workable number hopefully people can enjoy the game for a long time - being 1v1 should help. Not only does the fact he made this decision so quickly help the game, but more importantly that he could implement the change and get the extra keys out immediately. That's the benefit of being a small developer and having a platform like Steam (if you're able to get on to it).

@pseg: Thanks for doing these, sim racing should get a little more exposure than it gets. Two tips from someone who has not raced iRacing, but has put a lot of hours into things such as Live for Speed, rFactor, and at the moment Project CARS, based on this video:

  • Change up a gear before you hit the rev limiter - while it's bouncing off that you're losing time! Edit: or maybe it is the fact that you keep your foot buried on the throttle, hard to tell.
  • When you progress to using a manual clutch and H-shifter (which you will if you're enjoying yourself so much) you have to be careful when shifting down to a lower gear when braking. At the moment the automatic clutch is helping you out by rev-matching, but you'll have to do that yourself once you make the leap. What happens is that when you shift from low revs to higher revs, ie 3rd to 2nd, the driving wheels (normally rear) can lock, which will spin you. That's where heel-toe and / or careful use of the clutch comes in - you need to get a gradual change in revs rather than a sudden one. There's a couple examples of it here: http://www.drivingfast.net/car-control/rev-matching.htm and the next step http://www.drivingfast.net/car-control/heel-toe-shifting.htm

For anyone who hasn't tried TrackIR in a racing game / flight sim (and I have no idea what the support is like in iRacing), it becomes intuitive almost immediately, and you have to turn your head so little that it is never a drawback. Remember that three monitors means a significantly higher resolution, and thus is much more taxing on your computer. Edit: Get both. Better.

Hope you keep these coming!

How do I access an archive for yesterday's stream?

If it's just the Twitch archive, you need to click on the Videos tab on the top right of the stream page, and then the video you want to watch - if they are in a funny order click on More Videos at the bottom and on the next page click Past Broadcasts and they should then be on a page ordered chronologically with the newest at the top.
