I want to follow Jeff's example and make a non-obvious list of my favorite games ever. Nobody needs to hear how absolutely mind-boggling amazing Ocarina of Time is, because everybody already knows that.
I may pick really mainstream series, but the game I particularly like that maybe others didn't as much. There's not a particular order to this either.
I have an entire blog entry about how I think this is one of the most well-crafted games ever made, so read it. Dang it.
One of the few N64 games I actually go back to now and again, other than Ocarina of Time and Star Fox. If I have people to play it with me, I do Perfect Dark too. This game is way better than that Mario 64 junk. I think I've finally burned out of this game, though.

My conceptually-favorite Zelda game. If there was enough side stuff to do and a few more dungeons, harder difficulty, etc. it would easily be my absolute favorite. I love the art style, sailing around, and the overall gameplay. Too bad Twilight Princess was such a step backwards.
I poured more time into this game (and Pokémon Stadium 2) than probably any other game ever. I feel it was a perfect sequel to Red/Blue/Yellow, and the new features were really neat, like following real time, unique evolutions, and breeding. It was huge, too. Best Game Boy game ever...?
This game creeped me out and blew my mind again and again, both on the GameCube and on the Wii. It's incredible. I played this in place of Twilight Princess when I got both the same day...which is REALLY saying something.
The best Mario RPG game. It's freaking hilarious and gorgeous and tons of fun. That somewhat-recent DS sequel is great too, but Partners in Time is garbage.
The Final Fantasy game that matters most to me, and my favorite PlayStation game.
I played this a couple years ago for the first time and could not believe how nearly flawless it was. I love Final Fantasy III (VI) a lot, but this is just plain better.
My go-to multiplayer game for about eight years. I don't even usually like playing games with other people, but hey. When my friends were around this was the game to play. I kill with Mr. Game and Watch, even though I hate him.

More or less the series as a whole, actually. This is what convinced me ultimately to get a 360 instead of a PS3, and I haven't regretted it once.
I love Metroid games, and this one gets a lot of flack for some reason. In certain ways it's my favorite, though, and I like breezing through it in under two hours some days.
A great game to have at a young age when I had few games (and especially few GOOD games) and so replay value and being able to search for every last secret for a long time were crucial. I played this game to death again and again, and I'm still terribly sick of it, but it was a big deal to me growing up.
I honestly thought for a long time that I could never get sick of this game, but I eventually just stopped playing it. After several months of checking in nearly every day. They really need to make a true amazing sequel to this.
Pretty sweet. Is it a game? I dunno. It's cool though. Didn't stop me from playing all three of them and then checking out similar games, like Hotel Dusk, and having a blast.
I was like fourteen when we got this, and at the time it was about my favorite game ever. We're big Disney fans in my family and at the time I still really loved Final Fantasy so the combination was very pleasant. I also enjoyed the unique gameplay. Now there's no way I can go back to it and I find it quite boring, but at the time it was an incredible experience.
It's awesome, and that remake...didn't do it for me.
I really, really enjoyed this sequel so much that it convinced me to replay the first game twice and really get into the fiction. Can't wait for 3. Hope it's as good.
I didn't anticipate adoring this game so thoroughly...but now I have an S-rank and no purpose in life anymore.
If ever there was a game that just totally sucked me in without me expecting it...it's this one. Gosh what an interesting and well-made game! There's so many different ways to approach it. The more I play, the more I want to play. It's kind of nuts.
