Morriana's List of Totally Worth It DLC's

With the total influx of every game almost having DLC it's hard to pick out some of the more worthier items to buy from the rest. I rarely buy DLC mainly because the main game itself is enough, however, some developers have gotten the extra content to work out in clever ways. This is a list of the ones that I have enjoyed and felt that were different from the rest and that were definitely worth a purchase. This list is a work in progress; I rarely buy a lot of these things and therefore at this time it will have less items.

TL;DR THIS SHIT IS GOOD.

List items

  • Now this is an unusual item to add because of the inclusion of both the extra contents for GTAIV. I have only had the pleasure of playing The Lost and Damned so far and can definitely recommend you try it if you haven't already. It intertwines with Niko Bellic's adventure occasionally but also tells a sad and depressing tale of a dying brotherhood on its own. TLaD took about three hours to five hours depending on if you actually take time to do the extra stuff that is introduced with this content. There are a couple of new weapons, two new mini-missions (This includes Gang Wars and Racing) and the option to call for multiple things from your brotherhood members.

  • Now this wouldn't be a DLC list without, of course, the Horse Armor from Oblivion. The nice glossy shine of that superior armor protecting the horse from danger simply can't be beat. When I had heard that this was coming out for Oblivion I snatched it up on day one. Gone would be the days when my horse would lose less health by being smacked repeatedly by enemy's clubs or sharp swords and just helplessly sitting there. Now it would set helplessly there with horse armor but look cool doing it. Of course regular horses were jealous that you're horse was so elegantly styled that it gave a lasting impression on it when I forgot where I left my horse the next time I played and simply went on fighting my adventure to find my fath- I mean finding out a way to defeat Lord Dagon.

  • Chances are if you've heard or even played Fallout 3 and enjoyed it, you know very well about Point Lookout. One of the better extra content than the rest, Point Lookout implements a very broken down and abandoned shanty town that is located in a smoggy secluded swampland stationed in Maryland. The reason this DLC is so liked is that it brings forth something new to the apocalyptic state of Washington D.C.; a new atmosphere. Point Lookout has many places to explore, all of which are a terrifying experience as you never know what will be around the corner. With mutant people that resemble hill-billy like figures and rampant cult members that follow a mysterious figure, this is an adventure like no other. I definitely enjoyed this more than the others because of the content that it offered. Though the main story in this DLC is quite short, the available places to explore far make up for that fact. It left me wondering what was next, and if you haven't already played it, you owe it to yourself to do so.

  • The better of the two actual DLC releases for Oblivion, Shivering Isles was a massively different direction taken for the game with the introduction of a Morrowind type atmosphere. During the main game the player hears about different types of Daedric Gods and Goddesses and Prince and Princesses but one in particular is mentioned quite more than the others; Sheogorath the Daedric Prince of Madness. Throughout the whole content the setting takes place in Sheogorath's realm of Madness and it is shown in the beginning that whoever decides to leave the realm usually does not go without losing their sanity. Of course, this all interested me but I wasn't prepared for what the actual prince of madness was like. It turns out I was completely surprised at the sight of this weird man who faintly resembled a cat with a very thick Scottish accent. Now it wouldn't be a Bethesda game if I didn't have some sort of task that I must be set on, so right when I got there I am ordered to save his realm. Even those numerous butterfly's couldn't lighten the overall looming destruction that faced this already crumbling world so, of course, I agreed. Not without whacking him first with a sword while he was turned, let's just say I learned how to fly.
