Far too few people have played Freedom Force it seems.
Great to see it on your list.

Chrono Cross over Chrono Trigger is a controversial decision. Also, Titan Quest?

Mother 3 should be put on that list. Also, Nier and Lost Odyssey.

I really loved Golden Sun, it was everything I wanted from a Jrpg, even if the puzzles were occasionally overwhelming. Keep it up Mracoon, not many more blogs left before you complete this leviathan miniseries :D

How the hell can you choose:

  • Oblivion over Morrowind
  • Titanquest over Diablo 2
  • Final fantasy 10 over any of the previous 9
  • Cronocross over crono trigger

It  just doesn't make any sense.. or are these games are going on a more classic list?

Not a fan of Kingdom Hearts 2 at all.  BTW, for DQ8, I just remember Yangus screaming "Cor Blimey!" a lot.

Kingdom Hearts is the most overrated game I've ever seen.  I love the setting, and the idea...but when combat comes down to button mashing ONE BUTTON...ya, fuck that...thats not an RPG by any means.

I've played a lot of those games. Some are great, some of them I wouldn't consider 'must plays.' And I can pretty much guarantee that most people who didn't play them back in the day aren't going to go back and play old-ass PC RPG's.

Quotes I would add/change
Baldur's Gate II: " Take heart fellow adventurers, for you have curried the favor of Boo, the only miniature giant space hamster in the Realm!"

Fallout 2: "Heh, just kidding. His name's Bob!"

This is an awesome list, keep it going.

Wait, FF10's the worst one? Have you played FF12? Or 2? Those are WAY worse.

Not really suprising that Secret is the only Mana game you've played. It should also stay that way, unless of course, you include Seiken Densetsu 3. All of the other mana games have been absolute crap, and will corrupt your memory of the Mana series forever.

Would have liked to see Tales of Symphonia in this section. Maybe you should replace LTTP with it?

Pretty good list of RPGs, although i'm not sure about Kingdom Hearts myself. i Bought the Freedom Force Pack on steam last month, and i'm pretty glad i have it (i have a retail copy of the original game, but not Vs the 3rd Reich). Superstar Saga was a suprisingly fun Action-RPG (the sequel was a bit fuddy-duddy, but i hear Bowser's Inside Story is back on form). I also realized i have to play more Dragon Quest 8...and FF X.

I'm not really Digging Chrono Cross, but since it's been a while since i played it, maybe i should give it another go (the music is amazingly good though, so much so that i got the soundtrack).
