@azman: maybe I’m misreading your comment, but Jeff directly wrote up a thing on Twitter that he regretted ever having him on, and a few beastcasts back they openly addressed regretting ever having Max temkin on, and they said beyond the times he appeared on the site; they were never really “friends” with him

And another war begins as folks are gonna get blamed for being disappointed with the lack of an actual apology from Abby,

On one hand, I get it, as the words “I’m sorry” hold great weight and impact for many.

But on the other hand, I mean unless I’m wrong when everyone else messed up, none of them never literally said “I’m sorry” but reaffirmed they will do better but mistakes will be made along the way.

And listening to how Abby said it, it did seem like genuinely sincere and a genuine acknowledgement that mistakes were made

It was well said abby, glad this didn’t get swept under the rug

People are continuing to say they have issues actually finding the allegations, so let's walk through these links so there's no excuses for finding stuff. This is the Twitter thread that people keep pointing to: https://twitter.com/NightinGem/status/1166807375187185669. We can agree that it is badly organized and prioritizes things over the abuse that shouldn't have been (and so doesn't give any of the other bad non-abuse things she's said/done the context they deserve as a result, either), which is causing misunderstandings about whether there is actually more than that. But it's what exists and what people are linking to, so let's start there, because it totally does link to the allegations if you spend just a minute going through it.

You go down that thread a bit, and you get this tweet: https://twitter.com/NightinGem/status/1166846093553889281. It links to another thread by them, here: https://twitter.com/NightinGem/status/1166845349035511809. And right there is where there are links to the allegations from Porpentine, both in a Twitter thread (https://twitter.com/slimedaughter/status/901180217519202304) and an older, more detailed article that did not yet name names (https://thenewinquiry.com/hot-allostatic-load/). (It also, it should be noted, links to a thread that has issues with that article is due to her own actions - while not defending Merritt - which is https://twitter.com/ellaguro/status/1166932434606350341.)

Now, I think people are seeing that Twitter thread from Porpentine and immediately treating "groomed" as some over-used buzzword and not reading much of what's being said. To start, that's kinda ignoring that the tweets are from 3 years ago, so a bit removed from the current context of its use. And I also do really want to emphasize that the people being named there (Merritt but also Anna Anthropy, for example) were very significant members of their scene/community who did have a lot of power over others as is talked about in the article, and definitely had the ability to groom/manipulate people along those lines, even if it's one that you're not familiar with and kinda doesn't really exist anymore to my knowledge. I see those initials and immediately know who's being discussed. This other thread talks about it more in the context of that scene. I don't really know what else I can really say to explain the history here, it is inherently kinda hard to give a broader perspective of community dynamics from 5+ years ago when I personally only saw the slice of it that played out publicly on Twitter. So I know that's complicated, but... some things are complicated.

Appreciate the info and digging as it's really difficult to find otherwise, gonna quote this to float it back up the comments, as this ain't about hating on abby, it's just a bad look after literally, weeks ago Abby included talked about holding people accountable.

Mary Kish is always cool and Rihanna seem like a genuinely cool person, but Yikes, not gonna lie, feeling kinda gross even listening to this episode now.

@mrfluke: Not to re-open old wounds, but who did they bring on in the past? Or when? I don't remember that happening but must have missed it.

EDIT: Nevermind, just remembered that it was probably Chris Avvellone that people are referring to?

A few others actually, off the top of my head, The wrestler Gentleman Jack Gallagher, Matt Pascual,

Here's the episode where they listed off some of the names

I can’t really blame on Abby on this one too too hard, literally can’t find what it is Merrit K did

But I guess I’m a bit shocked this slid through after how GB got SO much crap over this EXACT sort of thing and swore to do better.

(And it’s not about it being it’s Abby, pretty confident if Alex or Vinny made a mistake like this people would have come down on them as well as when GB was on fire over this a while back they got the share of blame as well)

Disappointed with the lack of foresight and planning

(because ok, maybe she got excited to have an female podcast, but really couldn’t do just a little bit of vetting beforehand?), but this’ill eventually blow over

I remember back in the gamespot days Jeff talked about import tuner challenge, a game that he didn’t think was all that great, but kept playing in a guilty pleasure sort of way, this kinda seems like that for the staff. (Not in a bad way I’m saying this)

Haven’t played much open world games in a while so this formula is still a bit fresh, and haven’t seen much samurai movies last last samurai, so I’ll give this a shot.

The story of George and Jerry is one of the wildest like non 2020 stories this year.

For those who come to the Beastcast for the escapism that giantbomb offers for a lot of us, the impossible pivot to games stuff starts around 18:12,

Fuck racism Fuck police brutality.
