I don't know, I checked in the game and both of them shift to the side when you turn. It seems at this point more aesthetic than anything. Any other ideas?

I was just looking at that youtube video and thought of something. Maybe only the player can see the holographic red dot, but everyone can see the normal red dot? If this is true, it might be better in smokey situations, or any time you can normally see the laser's path through the air.

I've just finished the campaign, and I kept seeing guns with red dot sights and holographic sights, but they looked the same to me except the holographic sights had a slightly different red dot. Is there something I'm missing?
