The degree to which Lies of P apes Souls stuff did irk me in places - it copies them in ways that don't make sense (no pause) or overdoing it with ambushes and collapsing floors. But the important thing is that they made a game that feels good. REALLY good. I'm super interested in what they do next, especially if they branch out a bit further in terms of the formula.

Armored Core weirdo off in the corner here. I'm incredibly excited for a new game in the series and also have a morbid curiosity to see how it will be received by modern From Software fans. You know, the kind who think they've only ever made Souls games and not insane shit about how the moon is haunted.

In regards to the Monster Hunter talk - as Jason said, you really want to engage with the wyvern riding as you get a ton of extra drops, and it does pretty good damage. But the thing I like about it is that it's just a quick interlude mid-hunt rather than a big repeated focus of the gameplay like the clutch claw in Iceborne. But yeah people don't usually do a lot of back-and-forth, just ride a Nargacuga or whatever in and fuck up the target real good then back to the usual monster beatdown.

Also in regards to ore farming since Jan mentioned having some trouble - it's actually comically easy in this game compared to past games. If you go in to a gathering expedition during a mining nodes upsurge (says it on the expedition quest description) and are using a set with Geologist, you get seriously like 12 pieces of ore per node. And unlike past games it's just one tap and done, no more whacking it with a pickaxe 3-4 times. It's so crazy this is actually how people farm money in the game now, just run a circuit in lava caverns for 10 minutes and sell the 250+ ores for 300k zenny.

@merxworx01: From what I've played today, and what you can probably see in the QL, the game also moves really fast. Loadtimes, the dog mount, maps that are more compact and less confusing, no monster tracking, one-tap gathering, etc. I just feel like I'm hauling ass at all times and makes the usual MH loop even more addictive. I can enter a quest in Rise and get the monster half dead in the time it takes to load into a mission in World on a base/no SSD PS4.

@doctordonkey: You can change it between English, Japanese or Monster Hunter Language.

The special guest's house has now given me a deep-seated feeling of inadequacy towards my own base, despite spending like 5 hours on it and being slightly farther up the tech tree.

Yup, that's a B game. Not saying it looks like a masterpiece, but not gonna shit on it just because it doesn't look like a bazillion-dollar AAA game. Would give it a shot if it was on Gamepass at least.
