In a Game Trailers interview, Kojima mentioned once again that Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain will be released separately. "We can't comment just yet on how these things will be distributed and sold," he said. Ground Zeroes, the prologue, will come first, Kojima said, and will introduce players to the gameplay "on a smaller scale." - Joystiq story about the GT interview.

@n7: Agreed. I doubt it's 2 separate games.

@n7: And after that, Konami said it was two separate games. I trust Kojima more, but why would Konami say that?

@probablytuna: I think ArtisanBreads probably has it right. The PR dude and developer aren't on the same page with the messaging.

@muthachugga: I'm guessing: Poorly written article + out of the loop PR guy = CLUSTERFUGE.

I mean, let's say this is true. GZ and MGS5 are two different games. THEY JUST SHOWED THE ENDING TO GZ. So what's the point? It can't be. Peace Walker actually had chapters. It began with the prologue, and had actual, named chapters.

I am so confused right now.

This all could actually come down to the whole episodic game experiment Kojima talked about a few weeks back. Where you release a game in chunks that way if it's no good or nobody buys the first chunk, then the developer doesn't need to dump investment into the other half or 3/4s of the project for nothing. Maybe they release Ground Zeroes and then we buy The Phantom Pain at a later date as dlc or expansion pack type of thing.

Then why did the "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain: trailer at GDC show parts from both the "Ground Zeroes" and "Phantom Pain" trailers/presentations?

Exactly. They need to clearly state that it is one game or two.

So Kojima says it's 1 game at GDC. Then later on, Konami says it's 2 separate games. WTF is going on?

@seppli: What? The average bombcast isn't billed as an exclusive. IGN billed their "reveal stream" as an exclusive, first place on the web, you'll see this stuff type of event. It turned into a horrifyingly stretched out 30 minute conversation containing 5 minutes of information before the actual reveal. Oh and that information was already known stuff. So it really ended up being the guy at the back of the line, at a gangbang. Just keepin his stuff prepped for the moment.

Wow, IGN's 30-minute exclusive has turned out to be useless drivel. 30 minutes of shit we already knew. So what was the point of that exclusive?

Maybe it's just me but, Destiny's leaked story beats sound a lot like Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End. Read the leaked story info and it's almost blatant the comparison.
