@vidiot: Sounds pretty obvious doesn't it. Not to millions of people who think they're so independent they're untouchable. They walk around with they're smug faces on thinking they're the best because they're off doing they're own thing.

@pwnasaurus: You may have missed my point. I'm bad mouthing the types of people who say "fuck corporations! I'm indie as fuck!" and then go down to Urban Outfitters or whatever and pick up that shirt they always wanted for the last 10 minutes all the while thinking "wow look how indie I am!".

Slap Indie on the front of any genre and it becomes like it was but slightly "alternative".

What's with this fucking obsession of things being indie? How is some band such as Interpol "indie" when they're highly popular in not just an alternative sense but a mainstream sense as well? Indie means nothing.

People put on skinny jeans or pick up a guitar and suddenly they're indie. No. It doesn't work that way.

Big corporations are selling this indie thing back to us in terms of fashion and music because they noticed the trend of people moving away from RnB and rap music. So suddenly they take up the styles and "fuck corporations" attitude of that once small enclosed subculture and BAM, suddenly everything is indie. It is not a legitimate subculture. It's some guy in a suit noticing that The Strokes are pretty popular and so changed their company tactics to market that New York hipster style. Now every one that isn't into Rihanna or T-Pain gets a big fat indie sticker slapped on their forehead and suburban white kids turn their heads away from facebook for a second because they're interest has been peaked.

I even buy into this whole "indie" thing with the some of the music and the dress and what ever. I just hate how people deny that it is totally a mainstream created thing these days.

If everyone is indie, then isn't no one indie?

@Meowayne: e.g if someone were to play Red Dead Redemption before GTA IV and then go back to GTA IV they would likely find the controls clunky and frustrating. With the current improvements over the last two years to third person shooters I was just asking you guys (as a final assurance to my basically made decision to this largely obvious question) whether it would be worth pursuing a purchase in this game.

@Meowayne: Been a lot of leaps in third person shooters over the last two years. Being ignorant on Dead Space, yes I do ask this question seriously.

I've come to the realisation as of late that I'm mad for third person action games. That saying I've been thinking about games that I've missed out on that have be both third person action and awesome.
But Dead Space is two years old now. I played GTA IV two years after it came out and it held up for me, do you guys think that Dead Space will hold up? Considering I can get it for cheap any way I reckon its worth taking a punt.

Any other awesome third person games you could recommend over the last few years would be great.

I own a PS3 and have Uncharted 1-2, Red Dead Redemption and a bunch of other third person shooters.

Cheers

@Bruce: Great review dude! I've only ever had an extremely peripheral interest in Arcade Fire, likely to stay that way considering your review sadly.

But 7.9/10? For an album you generally disliked almost getting an A (80%) seems really generous. Surely one fantastic song does not make up for a largely mediocre album.

Anyway again great review! I want to see more of this. What music have you been listening into as of late? Candidate for another review possibly?
