The biggest issue with getting into Dota 2 right now is that the tutorial is semi-broken and bots aren't in great shape as well. Valve could certainly stand to improve the new player experience some because trying to just jump into online matches immediately is a really poor decision.

I love the game to death (5000+ hours) but totally understand how some people can't get into it. You almost need a friend or someone to show you the ropes.

and it takes like 20 minutes to get to the good stuff.

That's really not right. Dota is an incredibly active game early on with tons of movements happening around the map. Sure, your cores will probably want to minimize moving around early but supports absolutely move around all the time.

I'm not really going to try and compare it to other games just because my experience with them are limited (I've played a little LoL and a little HoTS). I just wanted to dismiss this idea that Dota is somehow nothing but 20 minutes of AFK farming and then fighting. It's more complex and active then that.

(Also I found HoTS incredibly dull. but w/e)

The animations seem to be the least of worries for me. Everything I've seen has just had terrible, stilted dialogue.

When you pit this game up against Horizon, Zelda, Nier, and soon to be Persona 5... it better be a hell of a good fucking game to get my time. As it is a mediocre Mass Effect game simply isn't enough to draw me in -- even as a massive fan of the series and the original trilogy. (I actually didn't mind the original ME3 ending as much as some because a lot of it reminded me of Gurren Lagan)

ps: nice unnecessary "SJW" jab.

It's cool, but if you're going to go 1440p I would go with a 1440p144hz. IMO, 144hz is a bigger upgrade from 60hz than 1080p -> 1440p is.

Also 32" 1440p isn't going to end up looking that great. I think the best size is a 27".

If you're having difficulties with the time it takes to get back in battle... maybe don't play some of the slowest heroes in the game? (aka tanks)

So many heroes either have a higher move speed or have some sort of mobility option that gets them back in the fight sooner. Pharah has her boost, tracer has the blink, Junkrat can do a 'rocket jump' style thing with his mine, etc. Even a tank like D.Va has her mobility option.

Honestly I didn't find the walking back or death timers to be long at all. I think some people are going into overwatch expecting to sort of just go on autopilot and shoot stuff but you really need to play a bit smarter in game.

Nah I think the alias are a lot of fun in the esports scene. I don't really care for not see the need to switch to just using real names.

About $14 for some simple shoes that will likely last me about another month or two, then I'll buy another pair until I eventually wear them down as well and so on.

I should just spend the extra money to buy a good pair of shoes that will last a few years, but I'm cheap when it comes to shoes.

You're really just spending more money in the long run.

Think I spent $70 or so on shoes a few years ago and I'm still wearing them.

Why exactly are people so adamant about Witcher 3 being somewhere on the GOTY list? When Dark Souls came out it became one of my favorite games of all time, yet wasn't really mentioned at all around here.

Different strokes for different folk and all that. Personally I found Witcher 3 to be amazing, but too fucking long. The game got stale for me, especially when the combat was very so-so.

Why would you have that many frames? Unless your running a 120hz monitor theirs no reason to go over 60.

Uhhh because 120hz monitors are pretty common, and hardware that can easily push this game over 144 FPS is also common?

This is just lazy, I hope more people realize it.

Yeah, I've got a 144hz monitor myself. They honestly aren't very expensive (I think mine was ~ $230 or so).

Games locking physics to framerate suck. Likewise games that lock to 60 fps are also my bane now.
