Supposedly good games that just rubbed me the wrong way

List items

  • I chuckled a few times but in the end I was extremely disappointed by this game. The battle system was a chore for me and the open world was hardly touched because I felt I was given no reason to explore. I got so fed up with the game that I almost did not play the last battle because I found I did not care about the story or conclusion. I feel for those that purchased this one because it will no doubt be collecting dust or be traded in in two weeks after hitting the disc drive. Gosh, I still can't believe how much I almost dreaded that experience once I got half way through. Good thing it was just a Gamefly rental.

  • As a fan of MMA I am extremely disappointed by this effort. See my review if you care why.

  • As someone who loved the ATV Offroad Fury games I was shocked at how little I enjoyed this one. I should have seen it coming with the trailers pointing to SSX style play. Spending about as much time on the ground as in the air in a game like this does not spell F.U.N for me.

  • All the hype? I got a little more than half way through this sucker and returned it to Gamefly. I'm not sure what was so great about it. It did not draw me in at all. To each his own I suppose.

  • I loved Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast. I could not get enough of it. What happened here? Ironically, there is simply no soul in this game.

  • Someone please do some research when you take over development of a military SIMULATION franchise. The online is great fun, but the single player here is complete, well, shit for lack of a better word. The aiming in this game is about as effective as water balloons are at stoning people.

  • While not a bad game by any means, I just can not get into this series. The stop and pop gameplay is a little repetitive for me, but the real trouble is that I did not find myself caring at all what was going to happen next; so much so that I never bothered trying the sequel.

  • I own this game because it came as a pairing for Forza 2. I have tried this game in both co-op and solo and I can not for the life of me find the fun in this game. This is strange because I like the characters and can appreciate the comics. But for as many people who are crazy for this franchise, I find myself standing out in the Meh category.

@L4wz: I did not say the story was good or bad. I said it did not suck me in and I did not feel compelled to finish it.

You quit half-way through Bioshock? Then you can't say for sure if the story is good or bad if you didn't finish it lol

Measured opinions are always good to read.  I watched Bioshock, and I think what did it for me was the setting and the mood, and the fact that it was dealing with some issues behind the philosophy of the founders of that place.  Then there's a big twist with some meta implications, which was pretty cool.  You're right, though: to each his own.

Have you tried other games like MUA, like Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance?  I've never played MUA, but even though I can get some fun out of Dark Alliance in short doses, it actually sorta wears down on me after a while.
