@mormonwarrior: Alright, since you gave me permission: you seem a little old fashioned.

I came to Max Payne 3 with the "baggage" of Max Payne 1 & 2 being my two favorite games to date. After struggling with with the combat for a good number of chapters and giving up once the favela chapter rolled around, I came back to the game about a year later and it became my favorite cover-based shooting I've ever played.

My personal verdict: not nearly up to the standard of the first two games, but if you meet it half-way - fantastic!

@dizzyhippos: Everyone is entitled to their conspiracy theories, but I highly doubt Vince's thought process was, "I'm going to bury this guy and send a message to the smarks by putting him in the MAIN EVENT of our weekly programming against John Cena."

Man...social justice and related topics continues to be an unexpectedly divisive topic on Giant Bomb. News at 11!

Excellent article, Austin, and I hope to see more like it!

@hoonsama: what's wrong with those? They're perfectly good.

People being down on Mighty no. 9 is the dumbest thing. The game isn't even out yet ffs.

It's almost as if people don't actually care about whether their opinions are informed, and just like touting them.

I am the type to go for slower paced games every once and a while too. I (somewhat shamefully) grew to love Euro Truck Simulator 2 and played that a bunch not just to wind down from other video games, but emotionally tough days as well.

Speaking of "walking simulators" I also like The Elder Scrolls games for decompressing as well *rimshot*. I keep Morrowind installed on my laptop at all times just for that purpose.

Neogaf seems to have debunked this already. You get 2,500 koins the first time, then there's diminishing returns.

Which, iirc, is exactly what happened in MK9. You got a ton of coins for the first time through but on subsequent ones you got less.

Exactly what I was going to say. Seems like people just wanted another outlet for some latent micro-transaction anger.

Best of luck in everything you do, Patrick. You are a tremendously talented writer, and (I believe) on the cutting edge of what video games journalism should look like in the future. I'll have a new favorite video game related thing once you get hired somewhere else. Safe travels!
