Games of 2013... so far.... that I've played

I haven't played may new games this year, these are all of them, best to worst.

List items

  • Probably the best writing in any video game to date, interesting characters, great story, perfect ending. One of the only games to ever leave me feeling disgusted by its violence, and that's mostly because of the real and heavy feeling of the melee combat. That said, the friendly AI is terrible, the level up and weapon upgrade systems are completely unnecessary and there's a few other immersion breakers and other things that keep this game from being a masterpiece.

  • Great puzzles and thought provoking philosophical story. Atmosphere reminded me of 2001 and Moon. Mediocre voice acting and writing.

  • Good writing, interesting characters and amazing use of environmental storytelling. Even though I think its kind of overrated, I still think it is important and deserves the attention it has gotten, it shows us that games can tell us good stories without being in a complete fantasy world or killing thousands of people, while still maintaining a high level of interactivity.

  • one...more...turn

  • Great art style, writing, and feel. But, the rewiring mechanic completely breaks the game.

  • Beautiful game, not much to it though.

  • When I first finished this game I thought it was great, but the more and more I thought about it, the more its story fell apart. Also, I think Irrational tried to hard to add elements from bioshock 1 which were completely unnecessary, I think it shouldn't even have been part of the same series at all. I think a big problems of this game has to do with its predecessor, Bioshock 1 appeared* to criticize mainstream action games lack of player choice and the players obligation to do only exactly what the game tells them to, Bioshock Infinite ignores this completely by severely limiting player choice.

*I say appeared because i think Ken Levine might just have no fucking idea what he is doing.

  • Overall a very mediocre game, mediocre combat, mediocre platforming, mediocre story, mediocre writing and bad characters. Good hair graphics though.

  • Knife of Dunwall- It does nothing new, is too short and recycles a level from the base (which happened to be one of the worst levels), and has a terrible story (which is to be expected). Very disappointing DLC.
