I don't listen to GOTY expecting agreement or vindication of my own choices, but I am coming away from this year feeling like I cannot look to GB for coverage or meaningful insight on certain types of games. I think that's to be expected with the type of content they produce. They don't have the time in their working hours to do some things I might have done this year in my leisure time, like read the Witcher books and sink 300+ hours into two playthroughs, get real good at Bloodborne including Old Hunters and really dig into the lore, platinum MGSV, put over 100 hours into Xenoblade and expect to put in another 100+ in the new year. One of them really should have finished Tales from the Borderlands and been able to talk about that from an informed position though.

So I feel like I am coming to GB not for depth, but am looking to it for broadness in its coverage. They could do with a bit more humility in acknowledging their unknowns and uninformedness a little bit more though, ie W3 and Life is Strange endings, and that maybe with more time their list would be very different. I am sure almost everyone would say they missed something important off their best moments category. It would also behove Jeff and Dan to at least acknowledge maybe their experience with Mario Maker is not something everyone is going to have, but it seemed like they didn't want to concede an inch towards the end. My opinion is that is in no way even top 10 this year, and that disagreement informs what I am going to look for and take away from GB's opinions.

Oh boy. Between the lack of a proper go this and Witcher 3 will get from the staff, GOTY discussions this year are going to be the most infuriating to listen through maybe ever.

I don't want to be another one of those guys who keeps going on about how they should give the witcher a proper go, but damn. GoTY discussions this year are gonna be very painful to listen through.
