I can't wait for stickers of the back of the game box for GOTY edition copies of L4D2 to read "Game of the Year 2009 - blahblah, Game of the Year 2009 - blahblahblah, The Brad Shoemaker "I'm Callin It" Award For best Use of Zombies, Giant Bomb"
Seeing as all four of the Giant Bomb crew have logged time in to WoW a long time ago, It'll be cool if you guys do a Quick Look Throwback of it. Just download a trial game and play for 30-60 minutes talking about what you remember, what's different. It'll be cool to check out the old starting areas before the new expansion changes them for good.
I think I can clarify some first party, second party confusion from the Bombcast. Any studio that is wholly owned by a platform holder is first party. A studio that is not owned by the platform holder but their game is being published by them to be exclusive on the platform would be a second party.
So Retro, Turn 10, Sony Santa Monica are first party. A company like Level 5 or Camelot is independently owned but they are a second party to Nintendo and Sony as their titles are published by the platform holder. Before being bought by EA, Bioware was going into Mass Effect as a second party to MS as Silicon Knights was doing with Too Human.
Companies like Insomniac and Naughty Dog are actually independent but their IP like Rachet and Uncharted is owned by Sony.
I agree with what's been said, it basically is just video of them talking and it'll probably put extra work on Vinny and Drew. Instead, they have those cheap flip cameras that they shoot shorts around the office with. They should have one of those at the podcast table and when they do drink tests, Jeff goes off of the voicebox or anything visual, they should tape it and post it.
I like Uncharted and all but I don't think I'll be playing it competitively so if anyone wants my beta key i got from inFamous, be the first to PM me. I'm at work now, so I'll get back to you later tonight.
