@ninnanuam: I agree with your controller opinions. I love the buttons more on the DS4, but I like the triggers and thumbsticks better on the X1 controller. I will say, though, I hate the rumble on the X1 controller (not the haptic triggers, the whole controller rumble) because it buzzes really loud and makes the controller sound like a plastic piece of crap.

I agree with you, the rumble is a bit strong, I still actually prefer the 360 controller over both DS4 and ONE, the tension in the triggers on a 360 pad is better than the One and I like the feel of the sticks better than the One. But damn the "triggers" on the DS4 feel like floppy tabs, and the sticks feel even worse than the Ones not to mention the terrible battery life, stupid light and pointless touchpad.

It really though comes down to those triggers though, all the rest of my bitching is minor quibbles when contrasted against how terrible I think they are. Don't get me wrong, DS4 has good face buttons, the triggers are at least concave this time around and for games that don't use the triggers as primary inputs its a pretty good controller. Its a huge step up from the almost unusable DS3 in almost every way possible, but people all over the place are singing that controllers praises like its goddamned amazing, its not, it is at best "pretty good".

I guess people can't like the DS4 controller as much as they do. (I think it's one of the best controllers out there. I like the sticks and triggers but dislike the bumpers on it. Xbone's is comparable but the rumble triggers seem off. DS3 is nowhere near unusable, just not as good as the DS2.) I guess there's no room for subjectivity when it comes to how people's hands feel on a controller.

No, there is totally room for subjectivity when dealing with preferences. Its just one of those things where a hell of a lot of people ATM seem to be overlooking flaws in Sony's offerings and hyping the crap out of their products. I got both consoles at launch but the PS4 launched in my territory later than the USA and from all the hype around that controller from regular people and a lot of positive press I thought it was going to be great. It isn't, there are things that are objectively bad about it, there is no way to argue that the 5ish hour battery life is good, and that the material the stick are made of seems slip off your fingers after a while, or that the always on light is a great addition. (have they patched that out yet? I haven't turned on my PS4 in a few months) You might like the triggers and the ergonomics, that's totally subjective but I was disappointed when I got the thing home.

Actually I was disappointed by BOTH new controllers, I feel even shittier about the One, Its worse than the 360 controller, how the fuck does MS even do that?

I also mentioned in my post a few times things like "I like" and "I think" which means while I might not put IMHO everywhere all over my posts and their might be an edge of hyperbole to my tone that I do not believe my word is gospel in any way. I'm sorry if you felt like I was trying speak from a place of objective truth, I was trying to go for exasperated, not know it all asshole.

I have to say I'm kinda sick of people sucking Sony's line of hype. Maybe its just too much Neogaf, but fuck its like people have become biased to an absurd degree over there. They fucking rag on Titanfall and the One every chance they get. That games only problem is that it doesn't have enough content. It plays fucking amazing but all they do is rag on it, because they are so far up Sony's ass that they can no longer see the light. It's enough to make you oppose them on principle.

I own both new consoles, I play my Xbox One more. The controller is better for anything that simulates gunfire (those fucking DS 4 triggers are still shit) I've been buying most of my games for One since Titanfall, not that that there has been much out for either console since then.

Im looking forward to lots of games but I can tell you this, any game with shooting I'm buying for Xbone and any third person action game I'm buying for PS4.

People should buy both, and play to both machines strengths and with healthy competition we will all benefit.

It's possible jeff and Ryan were supposed to come last year. I think a few of the bros would be guaranteed if it was at a different time of the year. But being November end of the year with so many games coming out I dunno if anyone could spare the time.

There are so many reasons not to give up on physical media that I find the whole " get in line" inevitability of the whole thing disturbing. It cant happen unless consumers support it and we showed MS that when they announced the XBone and then triple backflipped.

The reasons digital games still suck compared to physical copies:

1, Price: digital versions of books, music and TV undercut physical prices by an order of magnitude to get their foothold, comparable digital games are like 10% cheaper tops and until they are in some subscription service for nothing they never go down in price. A month after a game comes out at retail the game has usually dropped by at least 10 bucks and usually more. Steam sales may be good but they aren't actually all that amazing. The last one kinda sucked and the sales prices for old games were still comparable to my local game store blow outs.

2, Fear of games becoming unplayable: servers get taken down all the time and some games are just plain unplayable due to this. But I can still boot up my SNES and play legend of Zelda or SF2. There is a feeling that these companies will shut off games we love in the not to distant future and we will be left with no collection at all.

3, Technological limitation: Most of the world still has shit internet, games are now fucking huge and streaming sucks ass...oh and some places (read a lot of places) have bandwidth caps.

Downloading a modern AAA game with ADSL or even ADSL 2 takes forever and can be a sizable investment of a person's monthly DL limit. when I buy a game from steam it doesn't just cost me the 15 bucks I paid for it also costs me my bandwidth and monthly DL amount, I only get 100 gigs a month for 60 bucks, most bigish games seem to come in at around 15-30 gigs so that 15 dollar game actually costs me more like $25 in real terms.

Again until these issues are sorted there is no reason to buy into this all digital future. Vote with you wallet and voice your opinion. We check MS last year and we can do it the next time asshole corporation tries this shit.

My list would go

1, Vice City: goddamn that game captured a feel unlike any other game I've played (maybe only Fallout NV beats it for that), the radio stations all worked perfectly, the palette was fantastic, and the story fit exactly with the gameplay.

2, GTA V: the sheer scope was impressive, I cant believe that game even works on the 360 its like magic. They story wise and the trappings of the world really capture the horrible GTA world so well.

3, GTA IV: Sure Nico was a bummer, but the world was super realised and I actually liked the story overall. Also the expansions were pretty damn good.

4, San Andreas: Again great world building but I felt the story got lost along the way and the world was very fragmented. There were a lot of things to like and it was a great sandbox game.

5, GTA III: It's an important game but its not as well realised as the other games on this list, I've played it but its the only game on the list I never finished.

I still play GTA online a little, and with the release of the new versions I know I'll probably pick it up again. While there are less of us online than there used to be the console that everyone transitions to might swing me one way or the other as to which console I pick it up for. ATM i'm probably going Xbox1, because the PS network kinda hates me.

Eventually I'll get it for PC during a steam sale but I cant see that happening until sometime next year.
