@NlGHTCRAWLER: So you've put up with some discrimination, and because of that you get a special pass to diminish other people's complaints? How bad do you think a Hispanic/Native American woman in the games industry feels right now? She's gotta put up with all the shit that you have to on top of everything that a woman has to deal with.

It sucks, but why should female Native American women be prioritized over everyone else? What makes them so special?

nothing makes them more special than anyone else. You're missing the point. The point is that just because most people have to put up with some discrimination, that doesn't mean it's okay! It's never okay! So stop saying, "oh yeah well too bad I have to put up with shit too." That's a pretty selfish immature attitude.

You are missing the point. You are acting as if im against speaking out against discrimination.

YOU ARE RIGHT FRIEND! It's NEVER ok for ANYONE to be discriminated against. So how about we start talking about that instead of prioritizing one single group out of a million.

We should be talking about making things fair for everyone or at least figuring out why it is we do these things, but instead you and many others have decided to label women as victims in a victimized industry and really a world.

I'm not being selfish, i'm being real and I truly believe that more time and energy spent on the subject of discrimination itself rather than a group being a discriminated against is far more productive and less offensive. You have taken upon yourself to became this sort of white knight when reality you are making things far worse.

I find it kind of ironic that most of the comments from those who agree with Patrick are comments that don't reflect equality but female superiority.

Examples? Everyone here wants equality, man.

Ever hear that term "Life is unfair, but it's unfair for everyone so therefor it's fair"?

What most feminists want is superiority. Equality doesn't exist for any one group, so in theory equality doesn't exist at all so striving for it is wanting superiority.

Ever notice how when a couple gets divorced, it is usually the man who has to pay a shit load just to support the woman? How about how the courts let female murderers get away just because they state that they were abused or raped? How about how in child custody hearings, women are almost always favored upon in court and granted full custody?

I watched this video about female talk show hosts laughing and joking about a man who got his dick mutilated by his wife after he filed for divorce on national television. If the roles were switched and some dude cut off his wifes private parts, then this country (The US) would go crazy if talk show hosts male or female joked about it.

My point is we all suffer from stereotypes and disadvantages in many ways. Whether it be by race, sex, sexuality, weight, class, political classification or any other generalization, we are all pit against problems that we can not control. Prioritizing one of these groups over every other group is wanting superiority.

This world is unfair in a lot of ways and a lot of different people are effected by these unfair disadvantages. What most of you are doing is singling out women as if they are the only ones who are stereotyped against in this industry. If you really wanted to see proactive change you (Patrick and friends) would try focusing more energy towards why we are like this instead of who we are like this to.

I am a Hispanic/Native American and I have felt personally victimized for being different and I also feel like Native Americans are portrayed horribly in games. Most of the time they wield Tomahawks and do rain dances with feathers in their hair and war paint dripped on their faces. Don't you think this is upsetting? How about the black characters in video games who are almost always tied to gangs or uses some sort of slang or how main hispanic characters are a rarity. How about male protagonists who are always sexualized with tight clothing and bulging muscles?

My point is women aren't singled out for being women. They JUST LIKE THE REST OF US suffer from living in a severely flawed world.

I'm not saying that fighting against this type of abuse is wrong, but that prioritizing women in this activity is not only unfair but in the long haul counterproductive.

Here's a question, Why hasn't COD allowed you to choose your gender for online games, so you can be a female soldier? How come FIFA has pretty much every division and team in the world but don't even have the Womens International teams or even be allowed to play as a women player in Team Play?

I'm pretty sure there are women FPS and soccer games out there. I can list a million other examples in games where men are left out. This is not because they are men, but because the developers know what they want when they create their games. If you don't like it, then don't pay for it and stick to games that fit in your ideology like Mass Effect (as FemShep) or female soccer.
