Strider is a 2D "metroid-vania" style exploration/platforming game, which gives the player a solid opening 30 minutes, at which point it makes multiple bad decisions which destroy any semblance of fun. Surprises Abound in This Solid Horror FPS 0
FEAR, it turns out, still holds up 9 years later and may be one of the best first person shooters of the generation. Sure, the story and characters aren't exactly Half Life 2 caliber, but everything that FEAR sets out to do, it does with flying colours.The story is fairly basic, and I didn't find had much sway in the experience. The Best Surprise of 2013 0
Platinum Games, the studio behind Metal Gear Rising, is no stranger to high-excitement hack and slash. One of the members of the development studio, Hideki Kamiya, is known for directing Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta. Metal Gear Rising was not directed by Hideki, but it takes influence from some of his games, while crafting a unique and extremely entertaining combat system.
