I am not excited by this announcement, but I'm not going to do anything more about it than vent. And I might some day buy MSM, if it ends up being good and on sale.
Nice Cacodemon plushy, btw.
Add more to it? You mean like with DLC?
"We have never wanted to make a sequel to one of our games unless we thought it made sense, that we could add more to it and actually make a better game,"
Oh, so it's not that DLC didn't make sense; you just wanted to add another title to your catalog.
"I think with Splosion Man a follow-up was something we really wanted to do, and that is why you never saw DLC for that game."
Actually, you'd have had plenty of time if you weren't making a full follow-up. Or are we pointing fingers at the publisher's desire for more money?
"We could have churned out new levels, but we wouldn't have had the time to add in new gameplay puzzles or cool new character stuff."
I see. "Ms." must be the new "2".
"But we didn't just want to do Splosion Man 2, it had to be something a little more interesting."
Sure it's pretty, but it looks more like a tech demo than a compelling game. My opinion hardly matters to their bottom line since I don't yet own an iDevice, but I'd like to see more great games from Chair akin to Shadow Complex and Advent Rising (sans glitches) instead of a simple "FIRST!"
It was definitely the quick look that got me. I started my account on the 18th, so when I saw I had to watch the quick look for Brotherhood, I looked it up and thought, "There's no way they want me to watch the beta video." I watched the long one twice before finally trying the beta. Very poor timing on that quick look release.
I expect the hilarious dialog will point this out rather than skirting the issue. And thankfully, it should be readable this time!
" Trick or Treating during the winter with costumes on? Right on. Makes ZERO sense but...right on! "
The original game was an unexpected treat for me. I only learned it existed days before release from TimOfLegend's Twitter feed. Despite his and DoubleFine's excellent track record, I didn't see this coming. I bought it as soon as the demo ended and completed it in a night. (Hello, 4:00 AM!) This expansion will be an instant purchase.
I don't get it either. I've never heard of this guy, and I've studied the industry since I was a kid. I agree with others, Miyamoto should have been it, despite the fact that none of his games are my favorites. I only got this guy's name from googling En Masse Entertainment. And he's not even listed on the company page. Thankfully a gaming news site gave me a list of names to try.
@Claude: I'd only recommend it if you've been through the game a few times and know the trouble spots. Driving with the gnome constantly flying out of the car while being shot at from a helicopter is painful until you learn you can drive to the next level and drive back to get away from the copter. There also a spot that you can leave him and find him waiting a couple hours of game-play later. These tricks I didn't know the first time.
Also, the gnome returned for a Left 4 Dead 2 achievement. He's becoming a star. ;-)
