Will scrawny annoying protagonist, likely armed with a sword, be able to retrieve the mcguffin in order to stop obviously evil guy from claiming the power of giant magic power source? Not without the aid of his diverse crew:

* female scantly clad overly busty magic user with a soft spoken personality

* female scantly clad slightly-less-busty frontline fighter with a sassy personality

* male taciturn hot topic samurai with a katana

* animal-man/woman hybrid with a noble savage personality

* male comedic relief character

I can only speak for myself, but can’t even recall the last jrpg in which I saw end credits. I used to play a bunch when I was younger, but I just kind of feel like I’ve already seen the majority of jrpg storylines and as I’m going through now it’s just “oh, you dont say, giant magic power source is in jeopardy, and will destroy everything? Scrawny annoying protagonist is the chosen one? Obviously evil guy revealed that he’s, in fact, evil?”

No. Don’t do this to yourself.

If I didn’t have kids, it would probably be a 7/10.

With kids, functionality such as instant sleep/resume and optional handheld mode, it’s a 9/10.

The protagonists from Army of Two were insufferable bro-morons. Supposedly the sequel’s were even worse, but I have zero desire to find out myself.

What was great about OG giantbomb is that I got used to the biases and could infer how much the hype for a game would resound with me based on who was reviewing it. Example: Jeff highly valued tight gameplay mechanics and feedback/gratification stuff, whereas Vinny loved stuff with good storytelling and was a lot more forgiving on mechanical stuff. Me being more like Vinny, I knew to be careful when Jeff seemed way more into a game than Vinny.
