http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-19134-Pittsburgh-Concerts-Examiner~y2009m10d26-Sublime-reunite-with-new-singer-at-SmokeOut-Festival

" It was May 1996; movie goers were clamoring about Tom Cruise's action-packed adaptation of Mission: Impossible, Atlanta was working feverishly to prepare to host the Summer Olympics and Sublime, one of the biggest ska-rock groups in the world was getting ready to release their masterpiece, Killin' It , upon the world.

Shortly after his marriage to Troy Dendekker, lead singer Brad Nowell went out on a short promotion tour with the band. After a night of playing a show and partying, drummer Bud Gaugh woke up to see Nowell half in bed. Gaugh investigated further and after failed attempts to wake Nowell up, Gaugh noticed that Nowell had overdosed on heroin.

The band went on to release their album just a month later, but changed the title from the eerie Killin' It to simply keeping the album eponymous. The album went on to go 5x platinum and featured such career-defining hits as "Santeria" and "What I Got". Shortly after the album's release, Sublime disbanded, deciding not to find a replacement for Nowell.

This past weekend, Sublime took the stage once again, marking only the second time since Nowell's death that they performed together. They took the stage with Rome Ramirez, a 21-year-old, back in February and the results were so great that when they were invited to perform at Cypress Hill's marijuana-friendly SmokeOut Festival, which was held this past Saturday, they invited Ramirez to come along and continue filling the void left by Nowell. While the reviews of how Ramirez sounded were generally good, not everyone was happy with the performance.

Nowell's family has protested the continuation of the band's use of the name "Sublime", claiming that Nowell owned the name, and with his death, the name should die too. There is truth to that claim, as Nowell registered the name under his name, therefore his family now owns the name.

As the legal battle continues, Sublime continues performing with Ramirez on vocals. Check out the video and judge for yourself if Ramirez is a rightful heir to the spot left behind by Nowell."

......you know what, sure why not. I wonder what Nowell's family is thinking right now :P Comments?

A friend of mine and I were at the local CVS looking for drinks and we came across these glass bottle doo-dads. Basically, they were floats (one root beer, one an orange icicle) and they seemed GOOD!! We payed for them, went outside, and opened them up.
In general, they tasted exactly like they should've. They were very sweet, milky, and felt like a float.

Around the middle of the bottle, we began feeling bad. We realized that there was way too much sugar in those things (I think 2x a monster). It began to feel like we were drinking the syrup for a slurpee... and thats it. Something kept us drinking them though, but every gulp left us grimacing. We couldn't finish and we threw them away. Although we did keep the bottlecaps for the nuclear apocalypse.

In general, these were okay drinks. These probably won't settle well by theirselves. Try having it as a beverage for a meal if you do grab one. It seems like these would go in the same vein of a Five Dollar Shake... I mean it's a pretty fuckin good shake, maybe not worth five dollars, but a pretty fuckin good shake (/reference. )So if you see them, pick one up, and enjoy it for the time being. Because you WON'T want to drink several of these in rapid succession.

3/5

Has anyone else come across these A&W drinks? I was tempted to try them again, but did not want to risk another stomach ache. If you have tried them, opinions?

I tried making a blogspot. I tried using my facebook notes. Nothing ended well or continued properly. This will be my new hub for reviews, opinions, etc. I'm sure this will make a fine home... hopefully people will read some of my stuff o.O

WELL I've been quite lazy and have some stuff still in process:
REVIEW: Gamer (Neveldine/Taylor. 2009)
REVIEW: Where the Wild Things Are (Jonze, Spike. 2009)
REVIEW: The Royal Tenenbaums (Anderson, Wes. 2001)

I took a small break on video games for a while, because I found my calling (I want to be a filmmaker) and wanted to build my DVD collection and basic knowledge of cinema. I love movies lol.  So in retrospect, I might do some small stuff on video games, I'm not sure right now (if it makes for any consolation, all I've been playing is Resident Evil 4... that's right... 4.) I still want to buy SAW, Borderlands, Silent Hill: Shattered Dreams, and Brutal Legend

I hope ya'll will be welcoming and read some of the stuff I post :P I'll also post some reviews I already finished.
Thanks, and have a good day!

I've seen alot of movies since my last post... so I'll just like... mini review them all

Observe and Report: I loved this movie way to much. The soundtrack was amazingly well picked, the direction was excelent with all of the cutaways, and it managed to be darkly funny... while still being light heartedly funny at points. Jody Hill... I salute thee (also I know officially know Seth Rogen can ACT and not just be... like... funny).
Might be too dark for some (failed due to false advertisement, this is more of a drama then a comedy) so it's a love or hate thing.

The Big Lebowski: I can see why alot of my friends like this. So many funny characters and such a hilarious storyline. Oh god, so many things to quote. The Coen Brothers have done very well. I love Fargo and Burn After Reading, but this movie  has tickled me rough, and I fucking love it. SHUT THE FUCK UP DONNY

Terminator Salvation: I feel like this movie didn't do a good job sumarizing the Terminator storyline up to this point. Alot of my friends were confused (despite some of them being fans of the saga) and it just felt confusing. MCG did a good job directing and Christian Bale was still gruff, angry, and raspy. Decent performances all around (Sam Worthington or other was really good). FUN ACTION!!!! :D

The Soloist: It ended up being a better drama than I expected, and even had some light hearted humor. I love the music even though I'm not a huge classical music fan, it all sounded beautiful and really fit each scene and character (it was it's own set peice). Could be boring for most, but it's got it's fans (it'd be good as a book IMHO).

Star Trek: I did not hear "Beam Me Up, Scotty" once. Anyway, great action and just pure fun. The movie was just pure fun (might not really service the true fans, but there are enough refrences and the actors do their parts well enough to suffice for a little).

X-Men Wolverine: I feel like it was an awesome action movie, but they really did a less than decent job building up the characters like Dead Pool and Gambit. If you're a big fan, you'll probably spew alot of WHAT THE FUCKS but it's a good action flick none the less.

Angels and Demons: A pure popcorn flick that has you think, but not too hard. I walked in without reading the book, and I still enjoyed it alot. Really intese (some parts were even kinda scary).

Dance Flick: I know... They did Scary Movie 1 and 2... but... no... I walked out of it in the middle... just no... I'm sorry

Up: This movie was HILARIOUS! The script is so well done and the voice actors do the characters justice. The story could and basically is really sad! XD Honestly though, you'll laugh hard and shed some tears. Amazing movie, also an amazing score. Just letting you folks know, 3D is kind of pointless beca- SQUIRREL...

Next Day Air: Pineapple Expresses challenged cousin. Funny at points, and decent action. A movie to watch if you're bored.

17 Again (According to my friend): NOT BAD

Adventureland: A victim of false advertisement again (just because Greg Motolla directed it, this will not be like Superbad). A really good drama with an excellent cast of newly graduates in the late 80's. Funderful soundtrack and is hilarious in some parts (due to the comic relief character, look out for him).

Burn After Reading: In the same vein of stupidity and violence as The Big Lebowski and Fargo. Maybe a little to smart for some teenagers because alot of my friends didn't understand it for some reason (plus some critics are saying it's an extremely adult movie... but fuck it). If you're a fan of the other two I mentioned, watch it and enjoy.

Almost Famous: This movie really suprised me. I was expecting a comedy of sorts and came out applauding loudly. While it was funny at parts, the story was great and the actors were brilliant IMHO. It just felt like a really well put together movie. Everything was top notch.

The Wackness: Kinda like Juno, but he's not pregnant. While it's not a comedy by any means, the drama aspect really can hit you hard as well as the extremely well compiled soundtrack containing an amazing amount of 90's hip hop hits. Excellent movie (Great performances from Josh Peck and Ben Kingsley).

28 Days Later: One of my current favorite movies (along with the Big Lebowski and Observe + Report). Direction is beautiful and some small things (like the characters driving on top of a painting) just really pack a punch and make you say (oh shit). The score is beautiful with a good mix of piano play + hard rock. Really appropriate at parts (except for the ending)

AND that's it... yeah... I'll watch alot more movies and then do this again.

EDIT: http://www.giantbomb.com/wii/60-36/silent-hill-wii-announced/35-236742/#38
^^^^^go there and discuss instead, for that was posted before this one :(
Same Info:
Last week, online reports surfaced claiming that Konami was prepping a remake of its original survival horror action adventure Silent Hill, which first saw release on the PlayStation in 1999. At the time, a Konami representative confirmed for GameSpot that an official announcement for the game was en route. And true to its word, the publisher revealed today that Silent Hill: Shattered Memories will arrive for the Wii, PlayStation 2, and PSP this fall.

Calling Silent Hill: Shattered Memories a reimagining rather than a remake, Konami said that the game will again follow Harry Mason as he searches the eerie town of Silent Hill in an effort to find his daughter. However, Shattered Memories will offer a number of new wrinkles on the original, with Konami promising "an interactive user interface" as well as a revamped puzzle system.

The most significant change to Shattered Memories will be the psych profile system. Speaking to Nintendo Power, producer Tomm Hulett commented: "One of Shattered Memories' most significant and intriguing additions--your answers actually affect how the game unfolds. And it doesn't end there. The game 'watches' you constantly, and your behavior throughout can determine when you'll meet certain characters, which scenes you'll witness, and a variety of other factors."

With 2008's Silent Hill: Homecoming released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, Konami noted that Shattered Memories will be the first installment in the series released for the Wii. The Nintendo edition will support the Wii Remote's motion-sensing capabilities, with players using the controller as a stand-in for a flashlight and cell phone, which aid them in finding clues.
